Ah, well I don't do that. I'm basically straddling the current market price, only in separate accounts. The basic idea is to let the market get you in by triggering orders in the "right" direction.

I agreed with your proposed entry point and bearish bias. However I've had solid negative readings on the A/D all morning and never saw a +3000 like you observed.

I may yet recant and say it's horrible; after all, it's an experiment like I said. This is how I operate. I try things and see.

Sorry about "crowing to the board". I was mainly interested about what caused the big move at a normally low-volatility time. As far as hedging is concerned, it's something I'm experimenting with. I'm currently net profitable, but I'm still working out how to handle the "worst case"...

I use a hedging strategy on EURUSD and I was *net* long. I don't do the carry thing. It's now moved against me overnight so I just re-hedged; I'm now waiting for whatever directional move will increase my position in that direction.

ATR is the accepted measure of volatility for swing trading. It's great for setting stops in trend following systems. Well-known traders/writers/bloggers like it as well. Van Tharp tradermike.net The list goes on and on.
