    Excel System Development

Great to hear that about RTD....now getting IB to roll it out....that's another story. Regarding the multithreading....I've heard that CALCULATIONS are now multithreaded....however, that does not solve the problem of the interactive GUI controls and Msgbox. A Msgbox will stop all ActiveX event...

    Excel System Development

The big problem with Excel and even Microsoft warns about this: STA (Single Threaded Architecture). This is a killer for realtime analysis. All trading platforms of any significance are multi-threaded in design. There are ways to skirt this problem with Excel, but you've really got to be an...

Don't try to predict, just react. Heck, a couple of good earnings reports could give a short-term lift to the markets.

I can't WAIT for that 5 - 6 move to occur ! WHEN, OH WHEN ? That's the big question. Now, August, or September ?

Help me tweak this trading strategy

First, get "WISE" and build yourself a trading "Watchlist" of stocks with decent liquidity and movement. 1000 to 2000 symbols should do fine. Next, determine the max. time frame for your determination of "narrowing BBands"...1 min, 5 min, etc. Finally, get some historical data for the 1000-2000...

    Excel Divergence Formula

Listen-up guys: this is pretty complex. I've seen some Easy Language code HUNDREDS OF LINES long attempt to do this. Bottomline: It ain't easy. See this guy, who has spent a lot of time researching this subject: Inside Edge Systems is managed by Bill Brower. You can contact him several...

strategy with tick charts is not stable

This has changed in the beta version 9.2 of the API. RealTimeBars captures the EXACT Open,High,Low,Close,VWAP,Volume, and TickCount (not sampled). My only complaint: TickCount should be replaced with UpTicks,DownTicks,SideTicks. Wow, now you're talking great data !

Why I don't buy the 4.5% Unemployment Rate

Listen up ! I don't disagree with you on this, but if you think THEY are bad, just check out some of the young Americans in HEALTHCARE. Omigosh, TOTAL IDIOTS, but guess what ? They're all working, all PROSPERING. This is much different than engineer and information technology graduates. Ask...

Why I don't buy the 4.5% Unemployment Rate

I just bid on a contract spot that would have paid what I was billing out over 25 years ago. Natch, the place was out-sourced to-the-max with Infosys people at 80% of the payroll.

    IB’s Stops Using Web Trader

OMIGOSH - did you guys just get off the turnip truck or what ? You're using a WEB BASED tool for futures trading ? With all of the browser incompatibility problems and what-not, you want a solid trading platform via web browser ? Get real, and use a real tool that is workstation-based. If...

    The need for speed

Nah....great coding in software always, always outperforms faster hardware. Cases in point: 1) quicksort vs. bubblesort. 2) single-threaded vs. multi-threaded.

    Writing Call Options

You got that right. ...only takes a few years of experience to understand that option "stops" can get filled FAR, FAR away from the intended price. Reason: wild moves on the open. Better do a ton of backtesting on this one dude....and hopefully, you've got solid option price data history...

    The need for speed

This is ominous. You've rewritten Tradestation ( +1 million lines of code), right ? Wow, you've gotta be at least masters or PhD level in CompSci, right ? If not, you've not done the proper (and complex) multi-threading programming necessary for a smooth-running realtime trading application.

Shop around: http://www.traderslog.com/proprietarytradingfirms.htm My rec: get at least 3 offers, do due diligence on each of the three. The entire "Deal" is totally negotiable with trade volume being the big factor.
