    German real estate

Generalization won't help when you are investing a particular market. The attitude toward real estate in Germany is fairly unique and has deep cultural roots. Any bull move would come from foreign investment. There is also nothing to prevent German housing from going side-ways for the next...

    German real estate

Not necessarily, it could be bullish or neutral. You mentioned in your posts why certain factors would not inhibit (and have not inhibited) bull markets in the past in future--this is a passiv stance. I believe you have yet to establish one point that supports the bullish case of German real...

Using options to limit losses to 2% of equity per trade

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed response. It would be too risky to simulate 100% of equity. Best would probably be to start with an analysis of the greeks. It seems that delta > .80 is a must requirement in order to replicate the movement in the underlying.

Using options to limit losses to 2% of equity per trade

The idea was to practially bake the 2% risk per trade rule right into the option premium. This way, a stop loss would not be needed and a trade (days - weeks) would have a chance to run its course. Taking advantage of a longer term trend without having to time the market precisely would be...

Best way to reduce theta burn???

Thanks for your post. I must admit that some of this is over my head (good options book anyone? :D )

Best way to reduce theta burn???

The idea would indeed to replicate a futures position and create a money management system for short-term (days - week) trend following on the SPY. Only 2% of equity would be dedicated to the option purchase (eliminating the need for a stop). Assuming all of the above, what option risks...

Best way to reduce theta burn???

Is there a way to sell a put while going long a call to get back the theta that burns away over time with the long call?

SPY option versus Leveraged ETF ?

Thanks for the link. And yes, this is exactly the point. Even with futures, a large move can blow past a stop in no time (especially on Globex it seems). You never know when the next Oct 1987 is around the corner. This is a real risk for long term traders that many don't take into accout since...

SPY option versus Leveraged ETF ?

Hi, I am going through similar research. My own goal is to limit the premium I pay to 2% of equity (no stops needed). The problem with very deep ITM options is that you might as well have direct exposure to the underlying as leverage gets less and less the more ITM you go. Aside from >...

Using options to limit losses to 2% of equity per trade

Assuming that I dedicate 2% of equity to the premium of a long call or put option (Options on SPY), how do I calculate the option parameters (date, strike) so that my position would reflect a 100% equity spot position in the Underlying (SPY)? This would be a way to limit risk per trade to 2%...
