A good way to go when you're dealing with large positions is to spread them out across several pools... and then rebalance to give more orders to the ones that are giving you the most fills...

It sounds like a software bug to me... I don't think it is possible to tell which flag you're getting in advance (unless you add liq), since you can't see the ELP's, so you never know when you're going to hit them...

Take for example Getco (Wedbush Morgan) they can get you a fill in 1 out of 4 orders in DOW 30 names, but you won't ever find liq in that ECN if you're trading a thin stock.

That depends on what you're trading... some darkbooks are very active on SP500 symbols, some are active only on big names, while others do most of their volume on dry, small symbols...

Have you looked at what the government is doing? they're desperately trying to jump start the next bubble... in the next 5 years they'll be looking to start a world war to get the market up to new highs... it worked a couple of times in the last century...

You don't need to do all trades in one symbol, your system might be doing 1 trade ever 2 seconds on all of Xetra and you got yourself 9000 trades per second... Any strategy that's profitable in low frequencies can be made into a high frequency system... you just need to run it on thousands...
