Oops. Now I see your point. Maybe just show the 7 and hide the other cube behind the desk? :(

    Common Math Interview Questions

July 07, 17, 27, 08... etc. This was a guess, BTW. Not certain, but it makes sense since 1 and 2 are the only numbers which ever need to be used at the same time. And also assuming the cubes are interchangeable from right to left.

    Trader P/L 2009

+457 I'll continue posting days outside of the +/- 100 range, but I'm also going to use July's slowness to continue developing a strat that's been driving me absolutely insane lately. (driving me insane because I know I'm close). I'll just have to see. Nice job to those who killed it in a...

Pretty lame R2k rebalance (for me anyway). Pathetic thing is that it's the best day of the week. +608

Very rare though. It doesn't happen every time you upgrade.

Yes. Some guys in our group are using older versions for that very reason.

What kind of specific education background would lead to a career as a quant trader?

It shouldn't be obvious to you. In most cases it's not necessary. But when you're a fund manager looking for investors, it sure sounds cool when you tell the potential client that you have math geniuses in the back room designing your systems.

MTXX was fun to watch after it re-opened. Barely got my toes wet and got 23 McChickens out of it. +970 overall.

Traders who win but really have no clear strategy

The fact that this came from the mojo captain of the p/l thread (no offense, Bob) makes it that much more relevant. And hilarious.

Traders who win but really have no clear strategy

It's nice to see some of the heavy hitters from older (and current) P/L threads chiming in. I have a long way to go, but discretionary/gut trading is becoming more of a part of my trading as time goes on. I've been running an API for quite a while now, and a while back I realized I was...

    Trader P/L 2009

About what I expected. No biggie. A little patience would have paid off, but I had absolutely none this morning. Done til Thursday. -1317

Making it as a prop trader

Also, what kind of training do they offer? T/A will not help you make it by itself. Just curious.

Making it as a prop trader

First of all, I'm interested in which firm requires a deposit, and also has an interview process. But to answer your q, I think most will agree when I say you will be the only one who knows if you might make it after you've been in the trenches for a while. The timeframe is different for...

Is it legal for IB to do this? Considering pressing a charge...

Fair enough. This usually happens over the phone when someone talks about being an "options broker" or "options principle", when I'm asking general options questions. It always gets to the point where I have to challenge them a tad. Just can't help it. You seem to be way ahead of...

Is it legal for IB to do this? Considering pressing a charge...

No Gubinec, I am not a rep. I actually trade for a living. (believe it if you wish) Actually, I thought I was clear that I despise reps. That was my point. You just touched a nerve when I read what it takes to get an account open when the customer usually knows more than both the...

Is it legal for IB to do this? Considering pressing a charge...

Not a bad idea about think or swim. I'd recommend it to the OP. Side note: and I've said this before. This the problem with options firms. They'll approve any clown with no experience with options to write covered calls. But when you ask them what the difference is between a covered...
