Pilots making $10/hr???? You gotta be kidding me

It's right around 100 bucks for a 172 wet right now where I live. Add 25 bucks for an instructor. The second paragraph is right on. My bro is a capt for southwest making around 250k/year. But he's been there for 16 years, and worked for many regionals before that, many of which went under...

Which Trading Environment Would You Choose To Hone Your Skills In?

I see your point, and although I can see it's apparent benefits on the surface, there are definite drawbacks. A somewhat related example is of a buddy of mine who thought he had cracked some code in the spy. He was making around 40 - 50 bucks a day, but he said he couldn't seem to get to the...

Suprised nobody's mentioned tomorrow's jobs data

Daytraders are flat. Position traders always have their risk figured out ahead of time. The people who aren't very good at the previous two aren't going to say shit because they're tentative. Why say anything about a number which happens on your day off?

    Options as a lottery ticket

Remember the morning of 8/17/07? Op-ex, and the fed comes out pre-market and cuts the discount rate by 1/2 a point. The SET on the SPX is 30 some points above the previous close. Well, a couple of weeks after that, a friend of mine and I went to an options seminar by think or swim and had a...

North Korea Vows nuclear strikes, Battle ship sunk.

Sorry but I gotta go with the squid boat theory. Makes perfect sense if you look at the under water drop off on google maps in the area which corresponds with where those lights are just off the East coast. I understand what you are saying, but there are a lot of lights in that sat photo...

I do not watch TV/news etc.. when trading.

I've been showing up at the office pretty early lately (6:30 or so CDT) and it seems that squawk box is ok to watch, esp if they have a good guest on. But as soon as that fat assed blow hard comes on a half hour before the open, click. Quiet the rest of the day except for the occasional online...

North Korea Vows nuclear strikes, Battle ship sunk.

Ok, I'll bite. Why are there lights 30 - 40 miles out to sea where there isn't any land to the east and southeast? The Asian branch of Atlantis?

Daytraders are delusional of the real world?

I guess the age old axiom should be modified to "Those who can't, teach, or, if they simply don't have a clue, they spend countless hours bashing those who can." Get a life pal.

Sterling: Best route to set s-stp orders?

Maybe you already knew this, but there is a way in sterling to set an S-Stop Limit. I haven't found a way to access this feature from an open montage, but you can do it through the hotkeys menu under settings. Echo doesn't let me log in on the weekend, so I can't lead you through it precisely...

    Availability for Shorting

Yes you can. Front month. But the spreads will eat you alive. Especially in options in stocks for which you are unable to locate any to short. You also have the issue of a delta lower than 100 unless you are deep in the money, in which case the spreads will be absurd. And let's not...

    Sterling question

You can set your num keys to load # of shares directly without highlighting the quantity field. I have mine set so I can click anywhere on the montage, and when I type a letter, it fills the symbol field, I hit 5 on the num pad and it loads 500 shares, then use any ol hot key to send the...

    Prop and odd lots

If you trade retail, odd lots shouldn't be a problem. But if you're a licensed trader, you're considered to be a "pro" and are expected to be accountable for at least 100 shares at a crack.

    sterling non-roundlot orders?

I'm curious as to how it went today. I'm also wondering who you clear through, if it's any of my business.

    sterling non-roundlot orders?

Sorry, didn't see your other post. I'm thinking everything will get rejected if it's a clearing firm issue, regardless of the ECN. It sounds like you either need to trade large size with round lots to get the ratio right, or switch firms. Let us know how it goes.
