What is the worst one day loss you ever had?

I remember that. From wikipedia: The fraud began to unravel rapidly on March 19, 1997 when Filipino Bre-X geologist Michael de Guzman died by falling from a helicopter in Indonesia. His body was found four days later in the jungle, mostly eaten by animals and identified from molars and a...

    Why do traders fail?

Oh God. I've had that emg clown on ignore for over a year. I hadn't seen a post of his in a while and was hoping he had choked to death on a cinnamon ball or something. And you go and quote him.

Getting Out of a Bad Spread Trade

Doubling down is fine, if you buy 1000 shares of a $10 stock, and buy another 1000 at $5, if you start with 20k. You had plenty of capital to start with, right? I'm kidding, you should've gotten out before it got to 5. I agree with Redneck's first post. Get out. Take the hit. Step...

    The best traders in ET

EricP or Lescor or Dustin. Because of their common sense contributions to ET. And they have 3 entirely different styles.

Who is Afraid of Heights ?

There used to be an observation area in a Chicago building where you could step into an enclosed glass area and look straight down. I don't consider myself afraid of heights, but that freaked me out. That was a long time ago. Not sure it's still there. I think it's a matter of degrees...

The most cursed trader on ET

You're confusing win rate with risk reward ratio. I think his definition is sound. EDIT: But then again, a win rate of 30% can make people rich. Just depends on your discipline to let profits run. :)

The most cursed trader on ET

I've sure felt that way at times. That's why I no longer trade manually. But I wasn't cursed. I just officially sucked at it.

College student looking for advice on the best route to start learning options

This thread is frustrating to read. Lots of advice from beginners. I agree with Surf. Learn hands on before you leap. Patience will get you there faster. The quote from atticus is good, but it takes a great mentor, and a lot of learning before you pull the trigger.

    Trader P/L 2013

It feels good psychologically, but it is a bad idea if your method is sound. You never know when that huge day is around the corner, and you always need to keep yourself in a position to experience it.

    hmm.no edges in the markets

Please pay attention to this woman. The stuff she posts will save you decades and thousands of dollars. But here's the deal. She and I have TOTALLY different styles. I am a mean reversion guy. I have skyped with Donna, and have tried to make the momentum thing work, and I think I may be a...

Yeah, I have a droid, but responding to ET while working around the farm is rarely possible. But here I am doing it. :)

    hmm.no edges in the markets

Depends on what you mean by "teach". And it depends on what you mean by "prop". The team I was on had a constant flow of ideas, but there was no "teaching", per se. And Echo isn't really a true prop firm, but it works for me. But the team is gone, and what I'm running now has nothing to...

    The American Civil War

While I understand your viewpoint, since the confederates took the first shots at fort Sumter, I would think you would refer to it as the war of state's rights. But I will definitely concede that Sherman was one mean and nasty S.O.B.

    The American Civil War

It's 8th on the list but Antietam was the bloodiest single day battle of the entire war. Also, I wonder how many people know that after Gettysburg, there wasn't another major engagement for another 10 months. Lee was on the run until the Battle of the Wilderness in May of '64. Just some...

    The American Civil War

I love this stuff. I don't have much to contribute other than saying my 76 year old dad and my brother were at Gettysburg's 150th a couple of weeks ago as members of an artillery unit. I couldn't make it, but man, I love that place. And being a cheesehead, I immediately fell in love with...
