How much did you lose on the journey to becoming profitable?

while I was busy trading futures on intuition mostly I remmember the second Asian crash in 1997 where I was having a boatload of short puts and a heavy futures position and the market opened 10% against me. I had a loss and my account went from positive to a loss of about 300K, I made 50 k back...

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

it's a personal thing: I myself find daytrading much less stressful than swingtrading. To come up with a good system for daytrading is however much more stressful.

    The best and worst indicators

if you got good indicators you can even trade Dax CFD's at night ... whet you need is one trendfollowing indicator and one oscillator with multi tf analysis and basic knowledge of chart patterns. Don't use classic settings with the indicators.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I think so idd ... I have an algorythm that I use but I don't think it's programmable in the strictest sense. Part of it is applying after staring for over 10.000 hours at charts.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I don't use classical setting for my indicators. Chart reading is part of the whole picture.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I don't use volume, it's a way overrated looking at that in charts imho. I use one trendfollowing indicator and one oscillator on all 4 tf's.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I am not going to give the secret away: it took me too long for that. But think multi-timeframe. My options trading was trading in 5 dimensions: the greeks.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

It's 4 dimensional so backtesting is a futile endevour. However I see itt working in the markets. Same stuff works on es as well as dax

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

it took me 14 years to come up with a good system ... that alone should be telling something.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

Untill recently I thought swingtrading couldn't be but I stand corrected when I use some of the intraday stuff I am using on bigger tf's it works but be prepared to face large drawdowns. To me it looks like watching paint dry. But don't have a restriction yet on my daytrading size so those are...

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

If your good at daytrading it beats swingtrading by a mile in returns ... I made 1500% on my nano-account friday. Today I am up 70%. That's why the people who are really skilled daytrade untill they get into trouble with their size. Daytrading is much harder though ... but it can be done ...

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I used lots of keyboard strokes to change my orders. In fact my keyboard was setup like a sort of game computer. Remember this was 14 years ago and spreads were quite wide and thus forgiving. That loophole is now totally closed.

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I made market by either standing of the bid or the ask of about 25 series. I did thit a bit depending of my inventory. Since this was on CBOE. I had priority over market makers when we had the same price. I send about 1000 quotes in total to the market. OF thse 1000 850 were cancellations...

opttions is a totally different anmimal and this guy knew a lot about the markets but was an awfull teacher .... in the last 2 years I was not paying much attention to him anymore but trying to invent my own thing. Problem is forex doens't i-lend itself very well to interday trading. So it was...

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

Not easy to tell: I was 'destined' to become a market maker in options and wrote a book about that. That forced me to do thorough research. I worked for a subsidiary of what is now called KBC securities as an option broker and alternate market maker in options. I always remained optimistic (in...

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

Yeah, I know and I am thinking that way too. But I prefer the dax trading hours since I live in Europe. At this moment I don't have any constrictions yet. I am first going to trade the size limit at Tickmill first (that's 100 lots. My current size is 26 CFD's. I was then planning to move to a...

Proprietary firms that don't front run your data

'because I don't have the right positioning" ... that seems an odd way to lose money since you and only you are responsible for the right positioning; not the prop firms. Losers in this game often tend to blame on certain external factors the fact that they lose. Real traders adapt to more...
