    Trading and Emotions

Sounds like the break-up was a blessing. Best wishes to you as you move on. One thing to keep in mind is that being process-focused rather than outcome-focused is not only good in trading but in relationship situations as well. Focus on what you can control -- which is your behavior -- and...

    Overcoming fear

One idea to help with fear is to accept an extreme loss in your mind at the time of the trade. If your mind accepts that, then it is less likely to over-react when a position goes against you for a lesser amount. However, with respect to this situation in the first post, I'm not sure that...

    Trading is Boring.... Good

Sounds like someone is a little sensitive. Seriously, I'm not against trading for a living but if you're not considering making an impact beyond trading, then you're living a pretty shallow life. https://www.timothysykes.com/what-im-proudest-of/

    Trading is Boring.... Good

Honestly, this is why being a "full-time" trader is not always best. Maybe consider some side hustles. Further, let's be honest. Just being a trader isn't a really meaningful, impactful job in the grand scheme of things so consider additional ways you can make a positive impact on others.

    Trading Diaries

Just to give an update, I went ahead and purchased an annual subscription to Trademetria - I really like this journal. I have exchanged a number of emails with the creator of it and he has been very helpful. I did make a couple of suggestions for upgrades which he is taking into consideration.

Agreed. And when you consider it's not even the best solution currently out there . . . who knows how low this can go!

Interesting. Was glad to see this just wasn't a cryptocurrency thing but rather security tokens which represent investments in a variety of things. A lot of folks think that is the future.

    Trading Diaries

So I had been journaling thoughts on this site for the past week. This was a beneficial exercise as it taught me that I preferred a web-based solution for a trading journal that allowed me to express my thoughts and ideas. That led me to look at other, more robust options such as TradeBench and...

    Trading Diaries

Okay -- played around with TradeBench, which isn't bad. Was planning on going with it at least through year-end but then I checked out Trademetria -- kinda digging that one now. For the most part, it has all the features I liked about TradeBench and more. There is a subscription fee but...

Macro Momentum Pattern Recognition Trading Journal

This may be my last post to this journal. This was a beneficial exercise as it taught me that I preferred a web-based solution to express my thoughts and ideas. That led me to look at other, more robust options such as TradeBench and Trademetria. I had been trying to use Edgewonk, which is a...

Legendary oil trader forced to shutter hedge fund amid low prices

    Trading Diaries

I am currently checking out TradeBench -- which is free. Pros: (1) FREE; (2) track multiple brokerage accounts; (3) allows you to set up strategies and checklists; (4) web-based; (5) fairly flexible -- you can be more or less detailed. Only major con for me is lack of forex support (but you...

Macro Momentum Pattern Recognition Trading Journal

11/23/2018 (Market Close): A few insights for today: Stock market downtrend continues, although market breadth was not horrible and hasn't worsened in past few trading sessions. This could lead to the market firming up a bit next week. Russell 2000 held up much better than the S&P 500...

11/23/2018: An additional note on the Friesen interview, he said the one thing he would tell his younger self is that "You are okay. Your tendency to underestimate yourself and your abilities is a limitation that you no longer need." I'm going to use that when I'm experiencing self-doubt...

Macro Momentum Pattern Recognition Trading Journal

11/23/2018: Today is a lighter volume day in the markets. Seasonality-wise, there is typically an upward bias. I am listening to a podcast on "Limit Up" where they are interviewing Rich Friesen. He is talking about avoiding using language like "I need to do ____." Rather, you need to...
