    the-hottest-hedge-fund-strategy-is-facing-an-existential-crisis

I know at least one hedge fund that shorts uses a valuation model. One of their top shorts was TSLA. SMH! At a minimum, any self-respecting hedge fund that shorts should be using relative strength as one of their inputs.

Are you mostly Daytrading vs Swingtrading now?

Yes -- if we can read the signs. Sometimes we choose to ignore them or interpret them through a distorted lens but they are there. I'm not saying I'm always perfect at reading them but they are there.

Are you mostly Daytrading vs Swingtrading now?

Ken: Hope all is well. I don't agree that gaps are haphazard. The market telegraphs its moves -- we just have to be able to read the signs.

Markets are in denial, pending actual meaningful data - like GDP

    Bad numbers = more stimulus.

Markets are in denial, pending actual meaningful data - like GDP

Logic and reason have no place in stock market trading.

No -- you are in denial. It's a Robinhood Bull Market.

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Mike: This goes back to our prior conversation. Given your beliefs (or should I say "doubts") about whether this is even possible means that you have no chance.

Is using as many as possible timeframes for same market advantageous?

Insightful question but at some point you have to make the trade and give it some room to play out! With the exception of the 5-minute, I use the time periods you indicated that you use, although each has its own place and role in my approach. While I could recognize some patterns on some of...

Elliott Management rumored to cut AT&T stake to zero

Based on how the stock has been trading, they should have cut it to zero a while back!

Are there posts which show daytrading can be consistently profitable?

One of the other considerations here is starting capital, etc. It's a much different risk profile trading a 6 or 7-figure account vs. $25k. And as someone else mentioned, define "daytrading." I take a lot of daytrades but I may keep positions overnight or even a few days, if warranted. And...

Are there posts which show daytrading can be consistently profitable?

If you believe it can be or can't be, you're right.

[QUESTION] For Those Of You Who Trade Index Futures...

Tall Mike: Sorry to hear about the upcoming layoff but it sounds like it's an opportunity for you to do something different. Others may disagree, but I do think the time frame IS important. It's important in terms of whether your strategy works and whether the time frame fits your personality...

[QUESTION] For Those Of You Who Trade Index Futures...

    1. Why do you trade indexes over other asset classes? Pretty much what Sekiyo said. And they also trade after hours so you have some additional flexibility there. I would rather take a smaller, leveraged position (with futures) than a bigger non-leveraged position -- just a preference thing...

    Trading from a Cruise Ship?

I just hope he's not captain of the ship! That will be the next cruise ship disaster! Cruise ship runs aground while captain and crew are daytrading!

Bears throwing in the towel everywere . Fighting the Fed did them in

I actually remember hearing stories like the one above. Not sure why people exercised their options but they did! That being said, I think Hafez's point is still valid -- the last time the retail trader was so involved in the market was that 1999 time frame. Sure, the conditions back then...

    TC2000 Reviews/Feedback - Charting Software for Equities

I'm a user from way back in the late 90's. I use it because there are some market indicators that I can't get elsewhere. I also like the Easy Scan feature to scan for stocks, although honestly I don't trade individual stocks that much. Otherwise, from a pure charting perspective, I prefer...

Bears throwing in the towel everywere . Fighting the Fed did them in

Hafez -- you and I both remember 1999. That was crazy. This is definitely the first time I have seen a market acting like that since then with the participation of the retail trader. Again, combination of folks being at home and no commissions created this environment, especially with...
