It takes all the running you can do to keep in the same place

Viewing this post also confirmed that the human mind can format what it sees in to something similar, but completely different. I thought this said: "Van Halen" when I first glanced at it! :)

What is the Minimum amount to open an account with IB ?

http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=minimumDeposits You get dinged $10 for data fees if you don't make at least $30 in commissions per month. You also get dinged $10 for trade inactivity if you make no trades that month, so in theory, you could just buy 1 share of a super...

Is Phil Grande's paid trading site any good?

For the record, I will state that I don't think he's a shyster or anything and you can probably pick up a tidbit or two. I just didn't find enough of value to warrant continuing my subscription (I think I was a member for 2 or 3 months).

Is Phil Grande's paid trading site any good?

Good luck trying to figure out an actual track record based upon his calls as you can't really find a page which shows where his entries are. I actually made a comment about that and was told that they couldn't do that for the daily trades, but they might do it for longer term trades, which was...

    Zero Commish during options expiration!!??

Interesting is the fact that they don't seem to limit the decent volume ETFs as they do in the some of the other "offers". My suspicions are that they offer these to drum up activity in some of these lower volume ETFs. Fidelity offers IWM and EEM (no QQQQ or SPY), but the others are pretty...

    Trading raw on YouTube

I always liked watching this guy's videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMuIJ8ATu6k&feature=related I've no idea what happened to him (he was an intermittent poster, at best). Maybe he blew up, or maybe his parents shut off his internet and forced him to get a job after high school so he...

    need some trading advice

Why would you suddenly need to go "all-in" even more aggressively? Why not just trade one contract? Or, if you are trading regular hours, find an ETF proxy for the contract you are trading (SPY, IWM, etc, etc). Trade 50, 10, or 5 shares. It won't be a perfect correlation, but it's good enough...

How do you handle asynchronous nature of IB API?

Why would this be messy/dangerous? Why not just use a Paper Trader account?

Real Time Trading Signal for ES E-Mini S&P 500 Futures Contract

Not really applicable to Twitter, but here on ET, I'm guessing that posting a quick screen capture of your TWS Trades page (or whatever platform you are using) will go a long way to cut down on the "signal X could not have been filled because..." emails. Throw this in place of your results...

    Did IB hike the commission?

According to their website: The IB Flat rate = $0.85. TF Nybot exchange fee = $1.14. So that's $2. Interesting that their website was all splashy recently about lowering futures costs.

Real Time Trading Signal for ES E-Mini S&P 500 Futures Contract

Might I make a suggestion as to your format? There is a lot of extra info in your posts that make it hard to follow. It would be far more readable if you did the following (especially on the Twitter page): ES SIGNAL #9: 9/29/10, 05:00 (LONG) ----------------------------------...

    IB--Time based exit question

Take a look at the "Good-til/after", etc orders. You can probably do an OCO with your stop order and a "Good After" order combination to achieve what you are looking for. As mentioned, there's 3rd party stuff out there that makes the combo orders much easier to generate. It's pretty...

How much would you need if there is a collapse

I'll second this one. Quite a bit different from most survival guides which assume you only must prepare for nuclear winter and roving Road Warrior cannibal tribes and that everything else goes out the window.

    IB API: contractDetailsEx

Yes, that is required. Pretty much all the API functions that are requesting or submitting data require a request ID. Also, I'm not sure which documentation you are referring to, but the function prototype shown is not correct. The link you provide is different than the one I use...

    IB API: contractDetailsEx

I believe I'm running version 9.63 of the API. I looked at my code and didn't see anything that I could pin down. I only place the call to reqContractDetailsEx and handle that and the End events. I'm using the TWS control in my own WPF control, so it's in a WindowsFormHost, but I don't think...

    IB API: contractDetailsEx

Which version of the API are you using? Just to make a sanity check here, you made sure to add the event handler for ContractDetailsEx() when you replaced the call, correct (and deleted the ContractDetails handler)? I haven't used the deprecated version for awhile, so I'm rusty on how it...
