GOOG earnings after close tomorrow - need options strategy

What is your personal expectation of Google and what's your risk tolerance if you're wrong? That will go a long way in to deciding which strategy to use. Straddles/Strangles are basically looking for a big move to the upside or downside.

    Fading a Guru

That would be awesome...you could have a split screen with Cramer flinging spittle and making cow noises while screaming "I love Qualcomm here at 800" and "Bear Stearns is a BUY!!!!" while showing a chart with large red candles on the other half...

Final Warning for World War 3 has been Sent

I did a Bing search about Google and found that there's a 63% chance that Larry Flynt is being nominated as the Secretary of Defense.

    Fading a Guru

What if they just suck at placing stops and reading market volatility? Are you just fading their direction or using identical stops, risk, etc. Are you actually going to sign up for the service of the guru?

Who Creates Billionaires? Stocks or Forex

Don't write your dreams off yet as you can have your cake and eat it too: Vince McMahon has a controlling interest in the WWE and also has stepped in to the "squared circle" on numerous occasions. Looking forward to seeing you on the next Texas Lumberjack Scaffold Strap Deathmatch Tag Team...

Trading options for couple of people

If memory serves, Interactive Brokers let you do sub accounts on a main account. I think they refer to it as a Financial Advisor (FA) account. You'll have to dig on their web page or contact customer service to see if that's correct as I have never opened one myself. I'm sure other brokers have...

    Newbie Question about covered calls.

Rolling means you buy back one option and sell another one. Rolling can be done in time (May to June for example) or price (buy one strike, sell a different one). If you roll in time, it's a "Calendar"; a roll in strike is a "Vertical", and both at the same time is a "Diagonal"

About to sell some covered calls; am I doing this right?

That's not really comparing apples to apples. Unlike a covered call, you aren't actually in possession of the shares with a spread. First you are assigned (so you are short the shares) and then you exercise your long to acquire shares. That is a multi-step process. In the covered call situation...

About to sell some covered calls; am I doing this right?

"Dividend risk" refers to the chance that you as the owner of the stock may not receive a dividend because the person who bought your call exercises so they can be the owner of record when the dividend is paid.

About to sell some covered calls; am I doing this right?

You only have to deal with the dividend payout if you are short the stock. You only receive the dividend payout if you are long the stock. If you are long/short the option, don't worry about the dividend (it will affect the option pricing somewhat, but you're not paying or receiving any extra...

Historical Data From March 15th 2000- April 18th of ES

Most charting packages allow you to import data, but you might need to massage the format a bit (I haven't looked at it). If you don't have a charting package, I'd just download the free version of Ninjatrader and use their historical import. The process is pretty straightforward once you get...

Are you watching futures tick chart ?

If you are trying to get true "tick" charts from the IB data feed, you are wasting your time since their feed does not report on a tick-by-tick basis.

jeff hirsch says super boom will send the dow to 38,820 by 2025!!

I'd say he's shooting for a bit of a niche market, but obviously his publisher thinks there's room to squeeze in between Dow 36000 and Dow 40000 while we're on the way to Dow 100k. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dow+100000&sprefix=dow+100000

    Intraday Swing Trading

It's not quite as risque as swinging intra-day trading. I think those terms are mutually exclusive as "swing" trading typically means holding from a few days to a few weeks. Perhaps this means adding/exiting swing positions using intraday techniques (basically multi-time frame trading)?

Feedback please: Would you join a $1000 pm signal service?

The people who are willing to pay for a signal service aren't the ones who have 1k to burn every month. Those who could burn $1k/month either already trade for themselves or have it managed for them. You'd be better off charging $39.95/month and make the difference on volume. Either that or...

Spam email frequency a sign of the times???

You all get them...the unsolicited email from a friendly barrister, bank representative, spouse of a former president, Government ATM department, or FBI director (my favorite, when Old Bob Mueller needed my help). These helpful souls are willing to help you collect a f#*K ton of cash in exchange...

    Questions for experienced daytraders

Why do you only have to increase size as it moves in the right direction? Unless you pick the exact bottom every time you enter, you are going to experience some movement against you, so why not take advantage of it? Even 1 tick/cent adds up over the course of a long time. Note, I'm not...
