Short answer NOPE.
Check this other thread I posted about a 17 yr high school kid who made $72M trading stocks and futures!

I'm pretty sure he was NOT daytrading or...
That's pretty wild! I want more details on his trading. That's an AMAZING compounding rate assuming he didn't start with $1M trading account. But even if he DID start with a $1M trading account that's a 72 FOLD! Given he started at age 9 and now he's 17, that's 8 yrs to MULTIPLY 72 FOLD. Crazy...

amazing! started in penny stocks then moved to midcap then gold and crude futures!
He's da man! PTJ is his hero.
I wondered what was his starting stake..
You are correct. The article does not state that. And low volatility will begets higher volatility later down the road.
But electronic trading replacing human traders have been going on for decades. And now it has reached the institutional level on a large scale.
There will always be human...
Of course, theoretically you could have done it anywhere. But America is on average the country that has a system that makes it easy for entrepreneurship(looks at the VC money pouring into Silicon Valley to fund the wackiest ideas), a stable government, a legal system that respects property and...
Perfect timing! He sold BTC at $1200. Dang! Then used the proceeds to start a business.
hear that guys! There's more than one way to skin a cat so to speak. Don't bang your head and your life trying to scalp pennies with ES or trying to win a Combine for the 50th time or whatever.
He basically...
I don't appreciate you insulting my math. hehe. I bet I have taken more math classes (both at the undergrad and grad level) than most people here. Plus, currently,I work in the fields of analytics & data science so I do mathy stuff everyday. This is not a pissing contest. hehe. Just sayin'...
Geez. It's VERY CLEAR now! Pass the rule THRICE just to get real funding?! And it's not even real funding per se. You are building your own cushion with the $15K or $30K.
Dude! Guys just fund your own account. They are selling a dream. $15K to $30K is not that much money to fund an account...

Low volume, low volatility = no jobs for traditional traders.
Plus with everything going electronic, the Street doesn't need that many human traders. Just hire a smart quant to build market-making algos to trade on...
Yes, all instruments have their strengths and weakness and all go through periods of trends, flat, chop, and range expansion.
THEREFORE... what's the LOGICAL conclusion guys?
Think about that....
What's up with the obsession with ES and CL only. I don't even trade those and still bank some OK profits. There are plenty of other futures contracts to consider: ZW, ZC, ZN, NKD, GC, NG, JPY, EUR, etc.
Why do you feel 30K combine is most fair? You are pushing around at most 3 lots. What's the deal with no weekly loss limit? Your max drawdown is still $1500. I don't get it. Why is no weekly loss limit is such a big deal when you are constrainted by $1500 max drawdown.
And it still begs the...
Got it!
I went to the website and actually read the rules:
http://help.topsteptrader.com/knowledgebase/articles/182836-funded-trader-account-parameters
"As a funded trader, account parameters (risk parameters and buying power) match those from the successfully completed Combine.

So, the bottomline is ONCE you pass the 150K Combine and go to Jr Trader status, how MANY lots can you swing?!
If not 15 lots, then at least 5 lots right? If you down to 1 and 2 lots then what's the difference between that and 30K jr trader account?
Geez...
If I were a true backer, I...
I would NOT saying passing combine is IRREVELANT. The Combine has very strict risk management rules and a short leash. Passing it shows some strict discipline and being able to generate 9K in 10 days.
So, the bottomline is ONCE you pass the 150K Combine and go to Jr Trader status, how many...
Wait a minute. The WHOLE point of winning the $150K is so you can swing up to 15 lots. Not necessarily every time. But the capacity is there.
If you pass the 150K Combine and they don't let you trade like you did when you were doing the Combine, which could include swinging up to 15 lots then...
That's what I thought for a very long time and never used sim. But I have changed my mind recently. I tried to trade as CLOSELY as possible to real account on sim. I mean I don't take crazy risks and load up 200 lots or whatever, because my real account would never be able to support that.
And...
I think it takes SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER than 1 yr to be truly PROFITABLE and CONSISTENT. You gotta take the long view here.
I wished I had used sim trading more. Would have saved me a lot of money. hehe. Most traders, including myself, thought sim was useless. You can use sim to test a lot of...
Ace - That would be my reasoning as well. One should aim for the $150K account assuming you can pass the combine. LOL. Then trade more conservatively at first until you build that cushion.
So though you might have access to 15 lots. Trade 5 lots to start. Once you build $4500. Then go for 10 -...
You are right with your math. That's' why I'm not interested in the $30K account. I want the $150K acct where I can swing at 10-15 lots to start. But having read the requirements, it seems way way tighter than I had thought.
I don't need TST to push onesies and twosies, threesies, etc. and pay...
