    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

I would not call that 6th reversal point, within the pattern just before it failed, support, as it had not shown itself to be such. If the price had exceeded the 2647 high, you could then say it was support. And, FWIW IMHO, I don't view various types of moves in uptrends that are commonly called...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Not assuming actually, as the pattern can only be a continuation pattern. Certain patterns, such as rectangles and triangles can be either continuation or reversal patterns, but not so with flags. If I understand you correctly, you want to sell around 2495 as you consider that to be the...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

You said 'all three'. F3 is not what I use as a trading set up. True, some traders do trade on failed patterns. But here, while the flag did fail, the trend has not changed. That would be an overly risky counter-trend trade because .......(what's your opinion of why?). Given the extremely high...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Yes, the volume must decrease. By how much it should decrease is one of those trade secrets that have been handed down by fathers to sons for centuries. You may enjoy researching such this weekend! While the classic minimum measurement rule does work out most often, the price movement will...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Yes, when I used to trade stocks the flag was my favorite pattern. In fact I once thought of changing my middle name to 'The Flag'! When my girlfriend offered to knit me a sweater I had her embroider a flag on it.

Well I'll be darned! This stuff really works!! Looks like these 40 years of studying TA haven't been a waste :D!!

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

I think you are trying to find patterns within the price movement when the DTRP is a pattern in itself.

If by W pattern you mean a double top, that is not what it is.

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Hi, In your following post you mention the break of the trend line.Excuse me, I could be wrong but are you seeing the whole price movement as Vic's 1-2-3 reversal pattern for which a trend line break is required? True, in the example there could be a trend line. However for a Dow Theory Reversal...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

I am not Chinese, and neither is the chart. The point of posting those charts is to show the pattern in question. A trend line can be drawn real time just as easily as in hindsight. Bedtime, and goodnight.

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

It is a reversal pattern that is based on the tenets of Dow Theory, thus the name Dow Theory Reversal Pattern. I use it almost every day in tick charts, just as the Greeks could have used it at the end of their bull market.

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

If you wrote the above in reference to the Dow Reversal Pattern I posted, these are two different subjects. While Dow Theory centers on market direction as a whole, that reversal pattern can be used alone as an indication of a reversal of any time frame down to the tick level and can be used in...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Your corkscrew pattern occurred just now in the Nikkei on a 50 tick chart. Actually there is a name for it. Somebody, I think it was Hill, called it '3 moves to a top/bottom'.

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Would you agree that in your example that 1) at the current price the trend has reversed and is now down if the high on the chart was a move in the primary direction,2) or is in a correction to the primary move that peaked on your chart, 3) or is a continuation of the downtrend following a...

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

I wish I could claim it as my discovery. But somebody beat me to it. It's called The Dow Theory Reversal Pattern. I would call it The DNA of Price Movement, rather than a reversal pattern, even though it serves as such.

    It's the Pattern, Stupid!

Nope. While you can read into it as being such, it's more than that.
