Question about Steve Woods 2400% return

I think dustin has hit on a major point here. The idea of float churn is really a new and great idea. I don't know if I would have thought of it myself, or used it as much as I currently do. I've spent the last half dozen hours basically going over lots of trades that I've done, and in about 75%...

    Double Your Fun

Keep an eye on occf. I think it tripples as well. Good luck finding those great moves, and remember that oversold bounces only last so long, so use those trailing stops.

    Double Your Fun

Gx would have trippled your fun. I took 20k at .38. Too bad I only took the double. Those moves are crazy. Stupid shorts all piled on and got nuked. Serves em right.

    SuperSOES Benefit, bye bye

once you know he's reserve size, you can still soes him for 5k and get filled, so I don't see what the issue is.

    Busted Trades

Earlier this year, I had a trade busted. It was on slr. Someone put in an island bid way above market, and I smacked it and covered immediately fora 56k profit. About 10 mins later, cyber calls me and tells me that island wants the trade broken. I said no. Cyber called back 3 mins later and...

    "value investing"

interesting posts ktm and aaainthebeltway. I guess that there's a lot to learn about fundamental analysis. I thought that the insider selling seemed pretty extreme. It feels bottomed on a chart sense at least to me, but I'm not gonna take any positions. The one question I still have is on the...

    Listed Stock Trading

It depends on the specialist, the size i'm trading, and the volatility of the issue, but about 80% market, 15% limit and 5% island.

    "value investing"

Lets go over an example. I hate to use one of my "ideas" as a guinnea pig, but I doubt it's that good. The stock is amcv. On yahoo finance, I show that the book value is 7.33, and cash at 5.33. I show it lost .36 last quarter, and 1.21 for the trailing year. At a consistent rate of losses, the...

    "value investing"

This is a multipart question, so please answer any parts that you are knowlegable of: 1. Can one of you recommend an indepth book that discusses valuations. I want the boring gritty stuff like how to value debt, assets, reading government filings etc. 2. Why do you often see stocks that...

Nasdaq is screwing us all with these new Soes fees.

Just switch to NYSE. At least they're honest and upfront about it and admit that they're trying to screw you. I've learned to deal with it and not mind honestly. I pay .5c a share that I trade. This ends up being 10-25k a month that I pay directly to the NYSE specialists for the "honor" of...

    An Observation...

agreed... besides, the 4X margin is great. I can really take great lines of stock, and not worry about not having enough to average my positions.

    Trading Capital

Sorry to tell you this, but just buy some bonds and wait this market out. It's not a trader's market. I know lots of really good traders who are struggling. A newbie will get cut to shreds. I know you don't want to hear this, but it's the truth. Practice more, and wait for a good market to trade in.

My first options trades, take a look.

My personal incination is to be long puts... not calls... So I'd tell you to take the gain. I honestly don't know though, you need to learn to make your own decisions.... Long ge oct puts (37.5)

    uptick rule

07:22 ET SEC Rules : Wall St Journal reports that despite pressure to tighten short-selling rules, SEC will actually ease the rules by throwing out the "uptick" rule which states that a short sale can only occur on an uptick in the share price. I just saw this on briefing.com. I don't have a...

trade size as % of daily volume

Ok. I think that the ability to get out supersceedes (sp) the price level requirements.... IN that vein, I use market orders almost exclusively in nyse (occasionally island orders on something like aol). Basically, on anything that trades over 500k shares, you can move 1k of stock up or down a...

trade size as % of daily volume

It depends on the circumstances. I probably take the largest positions in the most illiquid stocks of anyone on this board. I usually trade stuff that trades under 500k, and usually under 200k daily. I've been able to buy/sell as much as 20% of the daily volume on a stock and not move it "too...
