Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

Weekly Update for week 33/50 ended 08/29/2009 Another nice week, up 64K (17.3%). Delighted to be on a new high. Finally some buffer starting to build up. The emphasis continues to be bullish on the market, buying on dips. The market was basically flat for the week, so could easily have...

    300 contracts (100 @ 5.60, 100 @ 5.80, 100 @ 6.20 entries). Bad move in DELL removed somewhat from my joy for the day.

    HGSI could pop

I wonder how the people who sold at 55 cents on March 9 (after the Hep-C results) are feeling now, seeing the stock at $20.

So far this year 73K. Bigger than my net gains. But I hope it changes soon.

The options are directional (no writing, no covered calls, just long calls/puts for a short time - less than 1 day in most cases). You should only try options if you have been successful in the underlying stocks. The cost of options(bid/ask spread + commission) will not be worthwhile if you...

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

For a stock like GOOG that was a snap. It was bid 2.70, ask 2.80, I put in a bid for 200 @ 2.80 and it was promptly filled.

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

The cost for options (bid/ask spread) and commissions have always featured in my consideration whether to play or not. With each gain though more confidence is generated in ability to beat the above costs and turn a good profit on the options. I still need to be alert and selective in when I...

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

Weekly Update for week 32/50 ended 08/22/2009 Nice week, up 45K (14%). Glad to be challenging the previous highs once again. The bias continue to be towards the bullish side for stocks and the market. In spite of the sell-off on Monday the action of the market the rest of the week showed...

Front Running, Flash Orders, or Blackbox/Algorithmic Manipulation?

If the size goes away because some bot detected your incoming order and cleared it or cancelled it (if the algo was the source of the size), is that not front-running (legalized I think).

    1) Be alert 2) Dont let current good run skew your risk perspective. (yes, I am saying that to myself)

Front Running, Flash Orders, or Blackbox/Algorithmic Manipulation?

Hmmm. That seems to me like legalized front-running: taking my edge based on seeing my order before my execution (due based on the quotes) was done.

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

Thanks for saying so. I think there is a huddle around the 365K level that I need to cross. I hit that intra-day sometime last week (ended 8/7) and backed down. I will have to ensure there is nothing psychological that is holding back break-out to new highs.

Front Running, Flash Orders, or Blackbox/Algorithmic Manipulation?

If I place an order for 10000 shares and it moves away from me. I would cancel the order after a while. Then the panicked "algo" would let the price fall (to my price or below) as they seek to get out. Then I step in again, and grab the shares at the same or better prices (of course does not...
