Can you swap one asset for another w/o cashing it out? If the answer is mostly negative, then Section 1031 makes more sense. B/C with cryptocurrency it's easier to do & the Section 1031 does not make much sense here.

And you still hate tax cuts for entrepreneurs & businesses. Irrelevant. There are many people on this board who love to benefit from the free markets but hate capitalism in general. The question still remains: What's in the tax reform that you don't like & why the old tax code is better?

If you have already explained this earlier, why don't you provide here link to the post you are referring to? How can we otherwise discuss the same thing? Don't beat about the bush.

Have you done the estimate of your tax return under new rules? What is your personal complaint? I would love to hear the same from the OP as well. How exactly will it affect his taxes in a negative way? I know I'll pay less in taxes in the long run.
