I believe a deflationary depression will occur within 3 years; how to protect assets?

What super power? The US is now the biggest debtor on earth, unfortunately. For example if China or Japan try to cash their US Treasury bonds in full, game over!

    Target missed by one tick

Scaling out (exiting a position in several planned increments as opposed to exiting the entire position at one time) usually works great if your system generates low risk/ high reward trades. Otherwise watch out, the outcome becomes worse!

    Target missed by one tick

Absolutely. And that's the problem with discretionary trading: NO clearly defined trading rules, so the trader is always asking himself questions like : "Should I do this or should I do that?". And then all discipline goes down the drain. Because, once again, there are NO clearly defined...

So who made the big bucks this week (ending May 2)?

I personally cleared about $2,300 and change with a long GBP/JPY trade (see chart below), while yesterday EUR/USD trade was a break-even trade. I am sure some ET traders made a 5 figure profit this week (or more?) so you are invited to tell us all about it on this thread. Or not :p Took a...

I believe a deflationary depression will occur within 3 years; how to protect assets?

And, oh yeah, I almost forgot, making money consistently in the stock, futures or Forex market is by far the best way to beat ANY kind of inflation and live worry-free!

I believe a deflationary depression will occur within 3 years; how to protect assets?

Buy Gold and deep out-of-the-money S&P500 put options. Buying top-quality bonds (they usually soar during periods of crisis) to generate income is also a solution. And pay all your debts now, if you can.

Can you name me some "small" futures contracts? Say < $10,000 per contract

Some of these micro futures contracts are liquid enough. I believe the original poster is looking for contracts with very low margin requirements. If that's the case trading the very liquid Forex micro lots is the ideal solution.

On the other hand you can trade with a good old Commodore 64 from your basement and still make tons of money! After all, legendary trader Jesse Livermore did not need a high end computer to make a fortune :p

Can you name me some "small" futures contracts? Say < $10,000 per contract

Try the micro e-currencies contracts, the Euro E-micro contract (M6E) for example is worth 12,500 euros and is liquid enough. You can also trade the Forex market, plenty of liquidity and you can start with the micro lots, they are worth $1,000 (1,000 units of whatever the base currency is to be...

Building a High End Trading PC - Help me out

Found this Amazon comment about the Core i7 4960X Extreme Edition processor: "If you're looking at this for gaming - don't get it. It's not worth the price. You'll get better performance in single-threaded applications from the new Haswell architecture because of its significantly more...

    Target missed by one tick

It depends. If you are trading with a mechanical trading system then there is absolutely nothing to do, follow the rules of your system and that's it. And just accept the fact that sometimes you WILL miss your profit target by just one lousy tick. I know it's frustrating but that's life. On...

    "spirituality" videos - Part II

Total nonsense. Like if we NEED spirituality to make money trading! But somehow you managed to generate more than 200 pages of comments on ET, which is beyond belief, even though you did not share a single winning trading system!! Wow!

need advice after 10 yrs as home trader

Not really, SmallStops. But everyday I lay down for 30 minutes and I simply empty my mind. Any idea that pops up I just block it, mentally. Try this for just a couple of days and you will see how powerful this technique is. PS: some people (especially women) may experience some kind of...

need advice after 10 yrs as home trader

Trading is a very, very lonely business. And personally I like it that way. After all, that's why we escaped the rat race in the first place, no more shitty bosses, boring colleagues, subways, etc.... Just click on the BUY or SELL button and make money, even if you are in Tibet. ( And yes...
