Interesting. So basically you're looking at volume. If there was a fair amount of volume, you don't anticipate a breakout and if there is little volume, then you do. Would that be correct?

Thanks for your reply, NoDoji. When you say you are positioned for a breakout, i assume you are buying or selling before the actual breakout. How do you know if there will be a breakout or not before the event?

Are u a trend follower, NoDoji? With regard to big winners outweighing small losers, that's fine, but you need to ensure sufficient numbers of big winners. Otherwise,it's like betting on a single number on a roulette wheel.

I've done a number of trades this morning, overall slight loss. V whippy today, not much follow through. (This "posting too soon after your last post" is annoying me as well!)

They made billions and they retired, of course! Those damn stop loss orders are preventing me from making my billion for the year  . Most annoying.

That's exactly why we need to use stops. I recall being long on 9/11 on the ES. When the news broke, i was stopped out v quickly and before the markets went into freefall. On the entry, virtually every trade I make is entered into via a stop. Those of you who don't use stops need to...

We're not trading the cash, we're trading futures. Cash would mean, with regard to ES, the underlying shares or with regard to CL, the spot crude market. Always a good idea to use the correct terminology.

NoDoji, out of interest, was your ATS backtested on just one contract or does it add contracts as well?

Do you use stops? Doesn't sound if you do.
