Who are the idiots buying bonds for 1% interest?

Congrats! We were one of the few facing a crowd that thought we were insane. :) I am not a bond trader, but I got interested recently. Are there options on the 2s? Any premium on the calls?

Weekly Poll: Don't Short A Dull Market?

I am watching the bonds. There were at 125'18 few moments ago. They did not break 125'17 yet, which important for confirmation purposes. I covered my short bonds, and will wait to see if they will break 125'17. If bonds do not go down, then this up leg in stocks is limited. 126'08 was the...

8 Days To Mid East War?

Knowledge cannot be bombed. Israel would not bomb, because afraid of Iran bombing them back. It could be that Israel is behind such talk of war, as it would allow them to make others gains such as free money if they speak less, and free military equipment, etc. Talking about war can be an...

The IVs at a given strike should be equal (read above). The IVS at different strikes should decrease if you move your eyes higher in strike prices. Or put the other way, the IV should increase when strike decreases, this is called the SKEW. Is it a new concept to add to your knowledge? :)

The bid is always lower than the ask? Maybe I do not understand what you mean. Also bid/ask is not the IV.

Are you should about puts volty increased? At the same strike, calls volty and puts volty are the SAME. They should be the same, or otherwise there is arbitrage. I suggest you give the numbers: like at strike X I notice call volty , and at strike X, I notice put volty is. I mentioning this...

Who are the idiots buying bonds for 1% interest?

Market is now at 125'19. For today I want to see the market trade at 125'17 and below. I think I should cover at 125'18 and wait for the break of 125'17 to re-enter.

Weekly Poll: Don't Short A Dull Market?

This one is not secret formula. It is due to few things (first 2 I read and they make sense, the others are my theories): 1. The hedging of new short puts (the previous post got it). 2. Professional traders do not hold risky assets, and except in a raging bull market they consider a long...

Weekly Poll: Don't Short A Dull Market?

Did you check how much are the straddles now? I did not have a chance to do it yet. You may want to eye ball what would be the strike that will win on Friday, using your highly developed intuition, and very sharp mind, and all the cool signature with green glasses if you think it will make cash.:)

Futures now at 125'255. Top so far is 126'08. Trade is going well. My wishes is for the support at 125'25 and then 125'17 to be taken. After that point it is a "clearer" sailing. TJ Sir Galahad Out

The One Great Quality In Successful Great Traders!

In every profession, there are certain qualities that are prized. If you have to list one (ok more than one) great quality of successful and great traders, what would it be? Also please provide ideas on how to develop such qualities, or instill them in others.

Michael: Easy to answer: No one will scratch your itch better than you own finger/nail. You have to learn the craft, probably with the help of someone whom you can pay from the earnings. If no earnings, no pay. You can pay for basic things, but beyond that a performance based model is what I...

Stanford and Falconview: Friday of this week, you may want to watch the market because it is expiration day. Expiration days are notoriously different days than other days. Sir Galahad -- Name of the week coined by King Arthur of Belize.

Weekly Poll: Don't Short A Dull Market?

The green curve makes sense. I know about it, and about its why. The red curve, I have not studied it or analyzed its reasons. Does anyone know? What are the numbers on the Y-axis?

Who are the idiots buying bonds for 1% interest?

    1. If this run in bonds reflects a real economic forecast rather than just a bubble by trend followers, then it would be saying something not good to hear such as fall in GDP, contraction in credit, deflation, etc. 2. My current analysis/assumption is that Helicopter Ben used words that led...
