options . . . very hard to make money

That is the answer, I think. I believe the reason why the minority makes the money, is because the majority of the traders and their mentors simply suck at trading.

options . . . very hard to make money

Who ever convinced you would have to deal with these facts: If it were true that most traders sell, then who buys? Options are contacts. For each seller, there is a buyer. No escape from this fact.

options . . . very hard to make money

There is however a fundamental problem with options trading: it is a negative sum game. Therefore no matter how hard the overall group of participants learn how to trade them, the majority will lose. I believe that people have to understand this inherent issue in options trading. It cannot be...

Selloff of the Yen? Intervention? Any news

Great trade! Did you see that it moved real fast (particularly EUR/JPY which fell like a rock)? Did the Japanese say something that is not right? USD/JPY is now back at 85.40. I like it at 84.80, and even at 85.31 I would take it, but since I am not sure it will go there, I think I would...

More on APS and out_of_sample testing

If my understanding of what you do is correct, I have comments/questions: 1. There are theoretical formulas that give the results you are looking for, and you do not need testing to find the edge, but testing can be useful to quantify the edge. 2. What happens to the trades that never...

    1. Why would you pay interest to IB when you can pay no interest at all for the same leverage? 2. Explain how you came up with the hedge value. Dollar for dollar/other/etc?

Is Trading As Easy As This?

Good posts Nodoji. Here is another question for you (and for others). Assume an uptrend in a day. If you measure the length of time between the high peak before the the PM breakout, how long is that period of time (roughly / on average if any)? If you were to look at the time when the...

Is Trading As Easy As This?

I agree. The repeat process was assumed, but you are right that it may be good to make it explicit ( for central limit theorem to show the edge or the lack of it). Your observation applies to all time frames.

Is Trading As Easy As This?

If you write, you share, and while sharing you learn/discover and help others learn/discover. Being only a consumer is not necessarily a virtue in writing/knowledge.

Is Trading As Easy As This?

You are right. I did not want to make it overly complicated by going into other methods within the same family (with-trend) or describing other families. I can tell from people's answers if someone knows their trading. I would not be surprised if you were to feel the same way. It would be...
