    Nope. (Hence, the danger...)

    IB - Weekly ES options

Not sure of what you're describing, but a (dangerous, annoying) TWS defaulting behavior is to take the first marketable quote available, when it writes a ticket. If (like today) you're looking to sell at the ask, and the shaky market fails to show an offer as your finger hits the hotkey, TWS...

Why are market spreads so wide in extended trading session?

You are buying and selling risk, so when sprstpd wrote.... what he was saying was, if the market for a 30¢ option is -30¢ -- 90¢, and you say "Well! I'll just put in a bid a nickel below mid, at 25¢......... and you get hit. What do you do now? Now that you have 25¢ invested, how do you get...

How to calculate the 2-day Historical Volatility of SPX

Youtube is your friend. You want std. dev (as you've stated), not std. error (a sampling tool). but to compute over a 2-observation "population" is way-bad small. you would do much better to remember that the period you wish to look back has an infinite number of possible measurement ranges in...

TRIN (or ARMS) Index (TRIN-IBIS@IBIS) Displaying Crazy values

And today!!! Yowsa! Start out low, and go lower!! (Seeing this super-broad buying, I got out of today's short 2380s @ 9:41am. "Phew!")

TRIN (or ARMS) Index (TRIN-IBIS@IBIS) Displaying Crazy values

Today's TRIN is an incredibly high 1.83, with the (more important) moving average really jacking up. Today's SPX rise is *very* narrow, and when the buying in those advancers quits, the (monster-big) selling in the rest of the market is unplug us. (I fear.)

The futures are in a free fall

We're "+7" in the SPX, but the TRIN is WHAT?!?!? A materially-bearish 1.3?!?! This stinks of sell-off, but we're rising on volume. And with the TRIN, while the initial value is important, the *direction* of the TRIN really rules the roost. And the moving average is rising. That's screwwwwwwwy...

    IB - Weekly ES options

Isn't that more of a Globex issue? IB is a Direct Market Access entity -- they don't want to hold any book.

The futures are in a free fall

SO!!! BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POST!!! Yeah, a good 1-day, 1.8% drop -- not *quite* a "freefall", but .... close. If we do it again tomorrow? Two-in-a-row? Yeahhhhh, getting pretty close.

The futures are in a free fall

I told a buddy that if we didn't make a new low between 1:30 and 2pm, we'd be okay. But nope. I am shocked ("Shocked, I say!") that the VXST hit 20 at the close. Yowwwww-ser. I didn't exactly want to but a little voice in my head said, "Write!!!!!" so I went out to Jun09, and wrote $5-wides at...

The futures are in a free fall

Then 'we'll see!' The TRIN has been at the statistically-neutral 1.0-1.1 range. (It popped to 1.20 at one point, which is still not MASSIVE SELLLLL-OFFFFFF range....) The VIX (THANK GOD) has some meat on it, but boyyyyy, that top-side is so nasty. The whole *market* right now is nasty: this is...

The futures are in a free fall

The globals (by which I narrowly mean, the DAX and DJ600) have been headed down since 0800 EST -- we're following them. It seems "The World" is pissed at Donnie. Volume in the ES is more than I've seen in two weeks? Dunno. But the best (volume) morning in a while. I think it's a global excuse...

IB Figure yourself out with TWS so many easily fixable errors.

In a rush this morning, but before I forget (and the day gets away from me): FINALLY!!! IB's option-loader (as cludgy a thing as has ever been), has single-click ability, so it's nearly as quick to set up an option/expiry page as before. (A simple copy/paste from OptionTrader would be...

The futures are in a free fall

When capital realizes that the incoming Pence administration will be a whole lot more consistent, we'll pull another one of those "V-bottom" maneuvers, and go another percent north of that for good measure. I've got a dollar that sez we have an announcement by 00:00 July 5th, and another dollar...

Volatility index creator seeks to invent new tool to measure 'ambiguity'

He's going to "invent" an intraday ATR with a moving average.
