GAMBLING ON THE INEFFICIENCY OF THE OPTION FORMULA

What do you not understand, ic? You don't understand why I find the OP's stream of consciousness posts amusing?

They've also apparently unwound that seagull options trade (9.12MM shares; 20Jan2017 expiry 60 puts vs 95 - 165 call spreads). Looks like that generated a loss of roughly arnd $500mio.

Households racking up debt, all because incomes are failing to keep pace!

The title of the article is misleading... If you read the original NerdWallet report, it actually talks about $16k of balances only for households which have credit card debt. The average debt across all households is actually $8k.

    TWS Greeks calculation

You should use the appropriate money mkt rate, regardless of whether it's positive or negative.

    OTC options

We all understand what you want, actually... It's just difficult to understand why anyone would want to give you what you want. You're trying to reinvent the wheel and get paid for it. Needless to say, that ain't gonna happen.

    OTC options

Come on, make a mkt for the man, sle... We could do some damage here.

    OTC options

I can show you a 50 / 51.5 mkt, in the case you have shown... Obv, this is based on a hypothetical case where there is a reasonably liquid mkt for the underlying and vanilla calls and puts.

I dunno anything about capped CFDs. As long as you're happy with the idea that the prices of the "capped/floored" futures contracts could be different to the vanilla, I am happy to make you a mkt.

    OTC options

Well, you could also use the options mkt, innit? A "capped/floored" futures contract should be priced as a regular contract, but also incorporate the values of the cap and the floor. Obviously, when I am the buyer, I will be long the floor and short the cap; vice versa when I am the seller.

    OTC options

Sure, but before we do that, I have a question... So let's imagine your "capped/floored" futures are trading in the mkt alongside "normal" futures. Let's also imagine that the normal futures contract is trading at $50. Imagine you're the mkt-maker. Where should the "capped/floored" futures...

    OTC options

No, you misunderstand... I am not referring to the commissions element of pricing, but rather the pricing of the instruments themselves. I am happy to give you an example, using the underlying of your choosing.

How much are you willing to pay for this "ease of use"? I am happy to offer you "OTC" liquidity in whatever capped concoctions your heart desires. You might not like my pricing, though :).

    OTC options

Why is a simple option spread not sufficient for your purposes? And while, yes, such products may exist in OTC space, if you think that you won't be paying for this optionality through the nose, you may want to think again.

    Will Capitalism Survive/Fix This?

Fundamentally, it's very simple... To paraphrase Churchill (who paraphrased someone else): capitalism is the worst system, except for all those other systems that have been tried from time to time. There's nothing perfect under the sun, because we humans are very imperfect beings. Capitalism...
