Intel Launches New 40G SSD.... $125

I think adding a SSD, which would jack the cost up by at least $100, would make them less price competitive. As the general laptop consumers probably have no need for it yet. At today's price level, adding even a 40GB SSD costs more than $100. And 40GB is not quite enough for today's use...

    Matcha's Dow E-mini Journal

I agree. You know what the most lucrative business in Hong Kong is? Selling small eats. Fish balls, fake shark fin soup, eggettes, etc.. They are willing to pay highest rent for a tiny outfit in the most busiest corner in Causeway Bay (where PO had a hard time getting oriented)... to sell...

    Working on Consistent Profitability

Hey how about me? SPY has a much higher chance of moving against the gap than with the gap. So chasing a gap at the US opening time is quite risky. Just kidding. Good job! Today's market was very volatile. Be careful with scalping on such days. Sometimes the market may move...

    Working on Consistent Profitability

I agree. I watch SPY everyday and use it as my benchmark for the stocks that I trade. SPY has gaps while ES doesn't. SPY is a proxy for ES. SPY has a much higher chance of moving against the gap than with the gap. So chasing a gap at the US opening time is quite risky.

    Addition to current CPU

I agree with Scataphagos. I don't know a whole lot about SLI but it didn't sound right. From what I read SLI was for parallel processing to combine your multiple video cards together and use them as "one". Good for 3D performance for games and stuff. For your trading, charting use, you...

    Market Crash

Retaildaytrader: Why did you take a few paragraphs from a webpage posted on July 12, 2002 by "Adam Hamilton", titled "S&P 500 Slow-Motion Crash", and posted here on ET as if this was your own assertion... and give no credit to the original author? Are you telling us you are Adam Hamilton...

    Addition to current CPU

Pardon me... may be I am ignorant of the technology. Why are you concerned about SLI? You are using your computer and video cards for trading (mostly 2D charts) primarily, right? Or are you building a machine for 3D video games?

    broadband speed upgrade question

If you change the column display and check on "bytes received" and "bytes sent", you will see the actual numbers. You can compare the ratio. In my case, download-to-upload is about 10 to 1.

    broadband speed upgrade question

Also note the "Network Utilization" statistics. You may have a 100Mbps adapter (these days, common). If the percentage of utilization is 1.00%, then your actual use is about 0.01 x 100Mbps = 1 Mbps. This way you can roughly figure out if you have saturated the download pipe size or not.

I think it depends on how you trade. How do you trade? Many retails like me: I have lots of charts and indicators (download side). From time to time I place an order, or change a symbol name (that's upload side). The software has some sync signals, keep-alive kind of messages (upload...
