Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Wow man this thing got slayed today. The interesting question is: why? It's not like rates are going to be increased - everyone knows that isn't going to happen. Have the hordes finally come to the realization that our economy is actually not "strong as evar!!!" ? Has the realization that global...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Wonder if we're going to 2034... that's a *significant* level. Well maybe 2040 is the more significant level, but this is also the lows of the support.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Definitely an incredibly annoying market to trade IMO. It's hard to get committed to any short position because of the looming threat of BTFD hordes and Fed constantly changing up the gameplan. If this were 2000 you'd just go short and be done with it. I don't have any present positions in ES...

UK trader arrested for May 2010 U.S. Stock market flash crash

It's this simple: Sarao is definitely guilty of spoofing - but he's sure the hell *not* guilty for the effects of the flash crash.

    Ag trade ideas

Got stopped out of Robusta (with a small profit [unfortunately around 1/4 of what I had]) at the end of the trading session. Just completely sold off. I blame somebody's dong. All this currency shit man.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Yeah the funniest part is if you go back far enough (and I did this), you'll see all the shit talking in 2007 and then come 2008 all of a sudden the thread turns into a ghost town, tumbleweeds and all. From page 275...

HFT at the CME - rigged to those that can pay

This only handles things up to the point of demarcation where they hand it off to the server itself. Then it becomes about who can use the fastest NICs, who can write the fastest software that's residing at the kernel layer or even no kernel at all, just full blown custom hardware. Are you...

HFT at the CME - rigged to those that can pay

This is treating the patient by treating the symptoms. Make it less about a latency arms race and more about committing traders to their orders. Cancellation fees (that HFT can't weasel out of) would put a significant dent in the "who's the fastest" angle. Obviously for cases where they're going...

HFT at the CME - rigged to those that can pay

It's more like lack of competition resulting in corruption that I'm concerned about.

How to decide on the proper strike and expiry month while opening a long box spread

These days is there ever a situation in which a box ever makes sense?

HFT at the CME - rigged to those that can pay

Seems kinda weird that ICE is content to not directly challenge CME too much these days. You'd figure a few well placed fee reductions (Brent, Russell) and some other kind of thunder stealing might have came to their mind by now. Its absolutely necessary that CME has direct and unavoidable...

NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas named a former Goldman Sachs banker and Harvard academic

More like an oligarch state. Goldmanites benefit Goldmanites. I mean c'mon, Paulson was an incredible example of it.

    Wheres the inflation!

Lack of oil demand is the symptom not the cause. No rocket science required.

They can keep rates at 0 all they want - but it's been shown to not have the level of positive effects on the economy that they desired it to. Eventually the machine runs out of gas.

Here’s the advantage high-frequency trading firms have over everyone else

Your example of human based front-running is/was happening at a scale that's significantly smaller compared to the current fully-automated 100% of the time the market is open algorithmic front-running. If people can see this happening and see the mass skimming of billions of dollars flowing...
