Quite a few people do this. It's not a big deal and acceptable as a way of using leverage to guard yourself from an FCM insolvency (eg MF Global). If you have a black swan situation that requires making the broker whole then you simply do that. But its better you oweing them than them oweing you.

Even though most people just lie their asses off if they don't meet a specific requirement I'm kinda thinking this is one case where the requirements are having their intended effect. No job and relying on financial support is NOT a good mix with futures trading.

This is somewhat replicable with HHI.HK or MCH.HK and A50@SGX futures although you won't receive any margin relief but it'll be accessible during normal Asian hours. Personally I think it's kind of a crappy trade and a bit dangerous.

The key is that the spread of QQQ outright is going to be smaller than the spread of ITM options. That's the whole point. At the second the short underlying position is put on the trade is locked in.
