Am I being ripped off by my broker?

I don't think you understand options. You need to read up on delta for starters. Unless that's a really short dated option a 5$ call in a 50 delta instrument sure points to significantly OTM and hence low delta. There's nothing amiss with FOPs and your broker has nothing to do with the best...

Some interesting stuff, most of which we already know, but presented in a cogent fashion: http://www.riskreversal.com/2016/04/21/morningword-42116-games-the-same-just-got-more-fierce/

When have they ever really been known for honestly reining things in though? They're full on field of dreams pot committed right now. Risk off has been demonstrated time and time again to be their kryptonite.

    Ag trade ideas

Why not just wait a bit until you're more sure of the potential direction and/or reversal? I looked at that spread when you brought it up and didn't immediately see anything obvious atleast from the price action.

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

You weren't harmed by someone you were openly selling to - particularly when you know earnings is coming right up. They might have taken part in insider trading which is a whole separate issue, but if you were offering in the first place it could have been legit bids hitting you or insider bids...

UK trader arrested for May 2010 U.S. Stock market flash crash

The vast majority of size orders are done beneath the surface. They aren't just advertised to the market so blatantly. It's quite easy to spot spoofing - the question is, why are the algos so stupid about doing it? It's that latter part that even enables spoofing to be successful. If algos...

UK trader arrested for May 2010 U.S. Stock market flash crash

You guys realize the only way to diminish spoofing is to actually allow spoofing right? If you "protect" the HFT/dumb algos from spoofers, they never have to evolve to handle it. If you allow the spoofers to force evolution, and there will be evolution, said prone algos will adapt and no longer...

    What is with exchange fees...

C'mon. This isn't an issue of milking TF, look around: there are tons of products that trade on ICEUS that aren't even related to the Russell whatsoever and they're not going to CME.

UK trader arrested for May 2010 U.S. Stock market flash crash

False equivalence though. An algo existing/being real is not the same as "one of the most sophisticated algos in the history of mankind" which is what you said. I assure you it most definitely was not the most sophisticated algo and I'm sure Nav would agree.

Monthly OPEX week anyway - waste of time for most people IMO. BTW: For those of you who've been slacking off on your taxes, you get the whole weekend to do it this year.

    What is with exchange fees...

Aside from TDA, I've always payed for ICE data. What brokers are people using that they didn't have to pay this? I highly doubt IPE products will be affected as well - most of that volume is pro.

    Trading: SSD access speeds

Execution speed? Not at all. Even if executing needed some kind of file system access the specific files are most likely already cached in RAM by the OS. If they aren't they're cached after that point.

IB: limit orders for commodity spreads?

CC: @def @kostia00 So in attempts to make IB a better place to trade and a more complete offering for spread traders I finally took the time to sit down and figure out all the stuff that I knew was missing but hadn't actually documented anywhere. The following IB tickets are now open: T121031...

    Double Butterfly spread

    Double Butterfly spread

Came across this the other day: http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.196.2766&rep=rep1&type=pdf It's fairly academic but still interesting given how little of this stuff is actually out there. However, past 1:3:3:1 my brain starts to explode. He does find one thing many...

Short ATM straddles with some far OTM protection and "hedging with the underlying" via stop loss orders isn't exactly rocket science, nor is it even new. Should be fun when VIX is 30+ (which BTW was never even mentioned as a hedging vehicle either). Also, I don't know what all the other...
