The market conditions are similar to 1999

In 99 people were buying because they believed in it. In 2016 people are buying because they're forced to (or believe they can outrun the next guy).

The market conditions are similar to 1999

What? In '99 there was an entirely "new" paradigm (yes it was obviously BS) for people to believe in along with completely normal interest rates. Totally different drivers even if the charts may bear a shallow resemblance. Not substantially similar IMO.

    Buckle up Guys its starting

Nikkei 225, and don't think the S&P500 is somehow so special that it's not immune.

Trump calling out yellen...."false stock market" indeeeeeed it is!!!!

Unbelievable. You realize there are MILLIONS of Americans without any access to or significant 401k holdings, right? Look outside your own personal bubble - just because you happen to benefit from it doesn't mean the rest do. Right, at incredible risk to said funds who are basically forced to...

Trump calling out yellen...."false stock market" indeeeeeed it is!!!!

You've got to be kidding me. Buoying equities markets does very little to "keep the economy thriving." But it does a hell of a lot to transfer wealth from the poor to the rich via asset inflation (both directly as in equities and indirectly via other assets [real estate]). There's a huge swath...

hedging a portfolio against a black swan

Nothing that hasn't already been covered in this thread already. There's no magic solution.

Has IB ever acknowledged a technical problem with TWS?

200 people just to generate statements.. that is absolutely insane. What is their major malfunction that they cannot automate all of this?

hedging a portfolio against a black swan

How is that even remotely a hedge for anything? He's not hedging currency risk and "take 20% of your account to cash" isn't a hedge. I guess by that logic if one's car is having problems and they want to hedge against being stranded they should not purchase AAA but instead just drive the car...

What is the rationale behind trendlines?

As I said before it's just a indirect measurement based on level to level. If you look at things with a volume profile you'll also see where reversals tend happen at low and high volume nodes in a fairly repeatable pattern when the trend is still present. A lot of times, but not always, these...

What is the rationale behind trendlines?

You're approaching this looking for absolute answers which you're not going to find. If you have a problem with the lack of guaranteed absolutes then I don't know what to tell you other then you should recognize that a rigid mindset is going to be an impediment in your trading.

What is the rationale behind trendlines?

I don't get what's so logically difficult to understand behind why trend lines show a pattern. Sure, they don't always work, but then again neither do all levels. But in a nutshell, if you have a bunch of different levels and one level above the previous level holds - if you connect those...

    Broker with free ICE data

Use eSignal, 38$/month for ALL global exchanges (including every exchange traded spread listed) w/ delayed data (usually 10 minutes), then find a broker that allows you to trade the spreads you want to trade but without a live data requirement. You don't need realtime data for something that's...

    Buckle up Guys its starting

Remember 8/20/15 was on a Thursday, then 8/21 (Friday), then 8/24 (Monday)... could see something similar (although this time the Fed already has some scheduled jawboning - they might bring out more). If the Fed had any balls whatsoever they'd ignore the market (which is really their first...

Wells Fargo fined $185M for dubious account openings

Notice too how the ones who got fired here were the ones who were pressured into doing it (this isn't something where upper management was totally unaware of it). So you have these people on the bottom rung being effectively forced (you want to keep your job right?) into this bullshit behavior...

    Are Central Bankers Buying Stocks?

Haha man go look at BOJ and SNB balance sheets. SNB is even one of the largest AAPL shareholders. On the BOJ side of things they own like half the Nikkei. All of this stuff is public knowledge.

    Are Central Bankers Buying Stocks?

Did you even watch the video? He specifically talks about the BOJ and not the Fed. The BOJ *is* buying equities as is the SNB. Now as far as the Fed is concerned I'd say they're indirectly doing it by inducing an environment that allows for easily financed buy backs.
