I think the MICROS and some of the other smaller contracts 9small exchange, FairX) are great for a few reasons IMO: Moving from SIM to live trading, when volatility is extreme, swing trading, smaller accounts, scaling in/out and hedging. We wrote a few educational articles on the topic...

Hi @SoCalOptionsWriter , VIX options are considered to be on the "equity side" and are not traded as future options but rather as equity options, hence we don't offer VIX options. Happy to assist with the ES option spreads and margins if you are still interested.
