Need recommendation for setting up multiple monitors on one PC

    I am sure I have a low-end model: Compaq SR5710F desktop PC (Windows Vista) http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/jm/en/ho/WF06b/12454-12454-3329737-89304-89304-3823953-3867468.html Processor type AMD Athlon™ X2 4450e+ Dual-Core • 2.30 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache, 2000 MT/s FSB Operating...

    Video Cards for Dummies (y)

From my experience: RE: AGP versus PCI bus I had both kinds on the same PC once. I didn't notice any difference between them. I am not a gamer. I use the PC to only run charting applications so for that purpose, I don't notice any difference. But the AGP-based card blew up...

Education Resources? Train Someone To Trade!

Sorry Robert: I agree to agree with you. If you read my note again. I said: Metoo said he/she has 30 some INVESTMENT books. To me there are big differences between INVESTMENT books and TRADING books. INVESTMENT books would be like those "Suze Orman" telling you make your own coffee at...

Errors in the NYSE TRIN? (IB)

TradeStation, same issue. A day like today (at least the first half)... having TRIN near 2.0 seemed very odd. I thought there was something wrong with TS' feed. If an index can be affected by one stock's changing from 0.50 to 2.00, I gotta ditch it. It's worthless.

Need recommendation for setting up multiple monitors on one PC

I can tell you my experience. I have a non-professional trading room with 20+ monitors spread over 4 desktops. Your computer bus type is the deciding factor. PCI or PCIx16? And how many. Older computer probably have PCI. You can google the pictures of the bus slots to tell what you have...

    Widescreen vs Square Monitors

The old CRTs (4 of them) are gone-zo now. Replaced by Samsung 23" LCD mons. Project (my trading room v2.0) not complete yet. Will post pictures once done.

    Widescreen vs Square Monitors

I bought a 26-inch LCD monitor about >1 year ago. Forgot what brand. The max resolution on it was 1680 x blah. Unless I did something wrong and didn't know how to set it up. I had returned the unit immediately because of no useful gain (resolution no better than my 20.5 inch).

Education Resources? Train Someone To Trade!

Are you really sure about following Puretick? I have no direct experience with them, but only observed posting flames between Alex and the rest of the world. I don't have any judgment on the actual working or not-working. But do you really want to follow an arrogant, foul-mouthed...

    Widescreen vs Square Monitors

Beware that the physical dimension of a monitor is one thing (like 26", 28")... the resolution is another. If you have a 28" monitor with only a resolution of 1680 x 1050, it would be like sitting two feet away from your 52 inch old style projection TV. The images are huge but grainy. What for?

    Margin requirements for day trading

Only your "cash" portion can have a 4:1 margin for day trading. Any portion of your account that is used to hold a stock overnight, that portion can only have a 2:1 margin. For example: you start with $25000 in your account. You decided to own $25000 worth of AAPL stock overnight. The...

Education Resources? Train Someone To Trade!

First: throw away all your thirty something investment books. Give them away to the next generation of sheeps. No... actually... burn them. They don't do nobody no good. You have decided to be a trader. You said so. And Day Trading. The most difficult form of trading in fact. No...

Virus Tech Support - A Testimonial and Warning... (my thoughts anyway)

They have already outsmarted you. Many told their indian tech support workers to pick an "American/English" name. Like John, David, Susan... doesn't matter. Hewlett Packard sends a lot of their tech support calls to India. Especially if you call late at night, US times. They are...

    What is an edge?

I don't think being confident is an edge. It may lead to having an edge but it by itself is not an edge. For example, I can be very confident that I can beat the heck out of Mike Tyson in a fist fight. But confidence can be just hallucination not reality. If your systems/methods can lead...

    Jim Cramer is a...

I think Cramer was criticised not from the day that he ran his fund, but after he hosted his Mad Money show on CNBC. Have you ever followed his "recommendations" made on the show to buy/sell stocks?

    any good casino operator stocks/asia?

I was in Macau in 2007. I had been to Wynn's and Venetian. MGM was being built at the time. I don't know who else were coming in. My opinion: I think these hotels/casinos in Macau were getting saturated very fast. In 2007 Venetian was very crowded. But I think mostly it was from...

    Commodity Trading Advisor = Oxymoron?

I think we can all forget about this thread. In fact, ignore all the threads started by crgarcia with a catchy title and a 2-liner thread starter, like this one and many others. It is her opinion without substantiation. If I remember correctly, she mortaged her house to invest, and...

    College Graduate

My advice to the OP: Make a decision: do you want to work as an economist, or do you want to work as a trader. If you want to trade for a living, then forget about all the economics stuff. It can help you very little. You can analyze the world's economy until the kingdom comes, the...

RE: Goldman Sachs Yeah. With $700,000 bonus per employee this year at Goldman, and most of it thanks to their trading team, I am sure Goldman is begging for any college graduate with any degree to join them.

    Day trading on the side

Right! Hey Mr. Market! Don't you dare to move on my day off! The stock market doesn't yield to anybody's schedule. It appears that you do not have the "do whatever it takes" attitude to trading. You will "do whatever is convenient for you". Cause to failure #1. And you pick "day...

    Why most traders are losers

Okay... I am going to avoid the terminology or technicality. My main question still is: For someone who would only trade once in two years, why does that person deal with this level of details? 20,000 quantity on the ask. 5 cents spread. And need to look at this information every minute of...
