    Laptop

I have very bad experiences with HP's laptop. My model is: HP dv9730us Within the first year warrenty period, 2 faults at different times: - Hard drive, need to have that replaced - Circuit board overheating for some reason (fan out??) Now another issue: The 17-inch LCD screen...

    SPY v ES

This is correct. SPY is more "granular"than ES. Which is why I prefer to trade SPY over ES. However with the tax treatment and the recent SEC fee hike, it seems more advantageous to trade ES over SPY if you are not scalping on pennies.

How many people here actually make a living?

metoo: Actually I love Pristine. I was not making fun at them. I just found my experience amusing. If you look around on the Internet on trading educators, Pristine is one of the better ones IMO. What I mean is they teach the basic trading principles and methods and not one of those...

How many people here actually make a living?

I have followed the Pristine ES chatroom for a few weeks a little while back. Mostly the commentary came from Kurt Capra (Greg's son). I have to chuckle because I still remember that it was a bit amusing to me. I didn't really follow Kurt's comment every minute throughout the day. But every...

how do I create an automated system for automated trading?

I use TradeStation to trade, though I don't use their automated trading feature. What you said seems to be simple enough. You can write some TradeStation scripts to autotrade and backtest using your script to enter and exit (target, and stop). Your entry/exit criteria can be stock reaching...

How many people here actually make a living?

One would have thought (or wished) that some demand is there... that they may offer course in trading in community colleges. At least teach people the basics of how to trade stocks and other asset classes. But... they wouldn't even offer the basic personal finance class to teach people...

Day traders bulletin real time signals

Isn't this very similar to investing in hedge funds? Wouldn't it be safer or easier to find hedge funds (published past performances) to invest in than to give your money to some "good" traders found on blogs?

    Multi-Monitor Vendors

Since I don't work in a Wall Street firm in a fish-bowl office and have no need to wear suits and ties, and that my trading room is a small 4-wall no window room, I traded-off look for practicality. Thanks about the 7-Eleven tip. Why didn't I think of that? Can save myself a few bucks.

How many people here actually make a living?

Yes. Sorry college_trad3r and Mark (NihabaAshi). You both are right. Trading capital and trading styles would influence whether you trade in a certain environment or not. We traders have the luxury of sitting on our hands. But I think to make a living from trading alone, and especially...

How many people here actually make a living?

I think trading is a "job" in that the same amount of (or typically more) effort is required compared to holding a salary job. I think it is not easy, contrary to what most people tend to imagine, to make good money trading part-time - such as trading a couple of hours a day day-trading before...

How many people here actually make a living?

I wonder why about the above statement by you college_trad3r. Perhaps this is what they teach in beginner trading classes - Stay away from the market when the market is chopping. But to be successful at trading for living, you must be able to trade, day in day out, in any condition. Imagine...

    Multi-Monitor Vendors

I don't mind spending $200 or so to buy a new 23" LCD monitor. I always have a hard time justifying to myself to spend another $200 to $300 to purchase a monitor stand to hold it up. The monitor stand is more expensive than the monitor itself. I use an ultimate po-boy solution: For...

Education Resources? Train Someone To Trade!

metoo: I am profoundly sorry for my statements. Please accept my apology. And I am sorry for your family situation. You are right: I have not been helpful. I should have worded them differently. I will be very careful in the future. What I wanted to say is this: I have seen many...

    taxes w/llc

From what was explained to me, LLC is a "pass through" entity. The tax liability is passed through to the owners. If your LLC has realized gains, taxes need to be paid. If you pay yourself, I think it's called "distribution". You can take distribution any time (as well as make...

    Video Cards for Dummies (y)

Without seeing the actual situation it's hard to tell. But I think the text display should be crisp on both monitors when all things work properly. I have an experience that: I installed a brand new SamSung SyncMaster 2243SWX monitor, which has a resolution of 1920 x blah. When I first...

nVidia display chips or circuit board confusions

Hi guys: I am not a hardware guy. I have some confusions on the namings and knowing who's who. I am hoping you can clarify them for me. Recently we have a few threads discussing multiple head display cards. I see the term "GeForce" used a lot in many of the packagings. PNY uses it...
