What is the intrinsic value of a rock in the bottom of the ocean?

About the same as a bar of gold in Fort Knox, a stack of $100 bills, or a few bitcoin. This is from "Debt, the first 5000 Years" (David Graeber, 2014)

Alarm Clock or Alexa to wake up with the Futures

You think? I love it... I can sit and listen to my music playlists, write code... and if something interesting happens in the SnP, I hear a *DING!* or _ding_ as the case may be. Then I know to glance over at my other screen, check the terminal, and see a log line I wrote of what spiked/plunged...

Alarm Clock or Alexa to wake up with the Futures

I wrote a Python script to issue a high/low tone if a US equity in the SnP 500 went +/-x% (say +/-5%) from the previous day's close. I'd have my headphones on while working and would be notified of spikes and plunges. I could hack you a little something and hook it up to futures data if u want...

    Query about USD/EUR seasonal pattern...

Just ask your friends in France for someone that needs USD. They can also look here in the US for people holding Euros. The point is to avoid the commissions and fees... they're crushing.

    Query about USD/EUR seasonal pattern...

Find someone that is traveling to the States and needs USD. Trade at market price, with Zero (0) commissions, fees, and market-maker cuts of all kind. They can be 14% or higher at the airport... armed robbery!

The Employment Situation -- June 2021

// Keith's note: This was looked upon favorably, resulting in a market swell today; however, in my opinion, this knife cuts both ways. It may indicate an upcoming taper, as Uncle Jerome et alia at the Fed are looking at employment statistics as a key metric to reduce 120B+/month in QE. This may...

Startup calls Coinbase's Commission Structure "asinine"

I was never comfortable with this company. It was always setting off my "spider sense." - Horrible customer service, worst I've ever seen for any kind of broker. Impossible to get help... even with password resets. Frustrating. - One day I logged in, and my account was zeroed-out (!) - I don't...

    1 Trade a Day or 100+ Trades a Day?

More important than "number of trades" are the market conditions that demand action based on your strat. If three instruments show the market condition you seek, then trade all three. Hundreds of trades per day really demands some kind of api or algorithm, unless you're one-click scalping or...

FOMC now says it will monitor employment.

A thought that crossed my mind is that all this currency printing is a response to China devaluing the Yuan.

FOMC now says it will monitor employment.

Also, I believe that much of the drop in unemployment (after the massive 2020 spike) was due to PPP "loans" (grants), designed to keep people employed. It wasn't "authentic" re-employment, based on demand for workers. Hard to tell when those cash payments will be used up. MORE cash injections...

FOMC now says it will monitor employment.

Must be nice to get a piece of that 120B/month QE, eh? First of the month... a nice check for $5B rolls in... time to buy some Welfare Weed... I haven't looked into it, but do you know if there's any visibility into _who_ is the beneficiary of all this QE? I'm sure the usual suspects: JPM, GS...

FOMC now says it will monitor employment.

They _want_ to keep pouring money into the markets. To justify this, they change the basis for their tapering/rate increase decision to data that supports more QE. Why? I've heard several theories: devalue the US dollar, keep the markets rising for political motivations, fear of a...
