Bought some YUM (KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Habit Burger) today...

Was looking for something stable and boring...That could go through a recession. Both KFC and Taco Bell are coming out with fake meat products...They don't taste good to me. I've had gastric bypass (16 years ago) and my sense of smell and taste is very sensitive. But many people are going to...

    Bought IAT...Regional banks

Didn't buy Citi...Even with their poor earnings, it didn't drop much. But, I picked up another ETF in financials...FNCL. I had an open buy (for 60 days) on this one...It has Citi in it's top 10 holdings. I bought it for $57.96 (100 shares) in my trust account...It closed at $58.22. If it...

    Bought IAT...Regional banks

That money came from a covered call I did on Oracle that got called away (made good money)...I needed to reinvest it. My wife and I own regional banks already...Just wanted some more exposure. Not crazy at all. Some of our biggest investments are things like; ADM, Coke (KO), Royce Family of...

    Bought IAT...Regional banks

I've made good profits over the years. You can look at my posts...They are mostly up and doing quite well thank you. So if you had $10,000. to invest and hold (stocks or ETF)...Where would you put it?? Speak up please...China, QQQ, Tesla, Avis/Budget??? I put these on here to give ideas...

    Bought IAT...Regional banks

Just 100 shares in our trust. I bought it today for $67.69...Then did a covered call for the July 22 $69. I got $4.40 for the option. It also has over a 2% dividend. I've been waiting for Citi (C) to drop...But it hasn't for a week. I'll wait and see on that one too...

Do I see a pattern when leaps expire Jan 21, 2022...

I went back and looked at the S & P 500 (last 10 years). I wanted to see if there was a pattern when/if my leap options (covered calls) expire out the the money. In many years the market would drop after the leap days. Many times when they expired out of the money, in late January and early...

    Is this a good value??

I do miss Barron's mostly...I would sometimes enjoy MarketWatch. Yahoo Finance has taken them away. For me...They are asking $12. per month for regular Joes/Janes. The value isn't there at that price. About 43 years ago (as a college student) I could get the Wall Street Journal cheap...There...

    What are "options on futures"?

When the pandemic hit people were concerned about USO. Here is the thread...A lot of people got burned. If you had it in an IRA (and it went under), you would have had to pay off more than you had invested!! You and others would have been on the hook. Read the whole thread...

Is Market predicting Omicron final wave?

Didn't read every post. The Spanish Flu ended...Yeah, it came in wave after wave. But, at some point, you had herd immunity and it quieted down. It seems like Covid will do the same thing... For your viewing enjoyment...

I bought some Farmland Partners (FPI) today...

Reading further, I changed my mind this week...I optioned these 300 shares. I noticed that much of their land is long term leased in California. In the Midwest and south they own many of their properties. In general last week, I bought the 300 shares for about $11.82 I think. Today I...

I can relate...Paul Orfalea, the founder of Kinko's

I had ADHD as a kid. I really struggled with school till I turned 16. For some reason reading started to click at 16. I became a good reader and went on to complete college (Chico State). My upper math skills have never been good. Thank goodness I have never really needed them for my lines of...

what are some less known traps that i should watch out for?

DO NOT DOUBLE DOWN!! "BOY, THAT STOCK IS CHEAP"!! There is a reason that stock is cheap. Set a limit on how much you will put into one company...Stick to it. Two examples...GM in 2008...BABA now. Both had the government step into their lives. Pensions killed GM. BABA...Jack Ma went bye bye.

I bought some Farmland Partners (FPI) today...

Just letting you know I bought more FPI today. 200 shares in one Roth IRA and 100 in the other. With these I do not plan on optioning them (covered calls), unless they rose say 20%. Even then I probably won't. I'll just hold these for inflation protection. It looks like more rains this week...

Could China real estate money be coming into the US markets??

Still own stock in Schwab. They have spent hundreds of millions of dollar trying to get into China (through Hong Kong). Take a look if you wish...

I bought some Farmland Partners (FPI) today...

I have wanted to own this stock...I have owned it in the past. The problems is the drought in California...They have a lot of properties here. Yeah, I know they have properties everywhere. We got a decent rain storm this week...With another one to come next week. Water can make or break...

Best way to pick strike price for covered calls?

I'll make it easy for you...I can't do it myself (if I copy and paste you can glean my info). Look up ADM at Yahoo Finance. Go to the longest chart you can find on the company. Also look at Coke (KO). It seems like Warren Buffet was ALWAYS adding more Coke to Berkshire!! Buy it on any...

Best way to pick strike price for covered calls?

Depends on when or if I had to sale. At the top of a bull market, I would make more by just holding. In the middle of a bear market, I believe I would make more using the covered call strategy...
