That's a sticking point of mine: dealing with counter-trend moves and retraces. The direction for today have been up all day long, but with deep retraces.

Care to elaborate? I don't see it. I got a sell signal myself just a few minutes ago, but due to my general up bias for today, I'm not trading it and think it might not be good for more than a decent scalp.

I got back in long (didn't post), but took an exit on this recent top. Too much divergence with NQ to risk more upside. I like to see participation from NQ and preferrably leading. If we sell, I'm certain we won't close below 93 today, nor fill the gap. Main scenario is more upside...

Average daily range takes us up to 2810 by the Close. This is what I'm (nervously) anticipating for today. I'm long again at 99. Stop at 97.

L 99. Stop @ 98. Update: Anticipating new highs by the close or the very least a test of the highs. I don't think it's likely we'll fill the gap below today, but we might of course have a deeper pullback than this, so utilizing a tight stop on this one.

Statistical data from a similar pattern in the past. Visually, I think one could perceive last week being a bull flag which we broke out of yesterday (Monday). Add to that: "It's a bull market, you know." We had every chance to sell off last week, but didn't. I'll add that to the bull case...

Continuing this call - I think we'll see at least 2 consecutive positive closes for the next two following days and most likely trade above 2820 by end of week. I am not trading this call as I'm strictly day trading, but I'd like to practice my prediction skills over a longer time horizon also. :)
