What defines a "Professional" trader (vs Non-Professional/Amateur)?

This is my sentiment. Licensed to trade OPM is the line. Not sure if same for our ET Professional sub-forum :)

TSLA charts not loading for anyone else this morning?

The machines are overwhelmed; the valuation has increased so fast, they just can't handle it. New machines are being added to support a TSLA price of over USD 10,000, and a market cap of $100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. Please be patient.

..if not, can I start one? I think that it would be both instructive and fun to hang out with the ET crew.

    Honda/Toyata all-electric vehicles? TSLA competition...

That's a damn good comment. Blasphemy, methinks, and you may be burned at the stake if you keep talking like this... but a great response. Let me gently remind you that TSLA is now valued at more that GM and F combined.

    Honda/Toyata all-electric vehicles? TSLA competition...

Why haven't Honda and Toyota dropped an all-electric SUV? Something to compete with the TSLA 3? Battery technology is really the only sticking point, and it's hard to believe that Panasonic (Japanese-based) can't step up and make a EV battery. This is puzzling... I smell a rat. Something is...

Tesla - How shorts got burned good

I think that the biggest risk to TSLA is, collectively, the Japanese Companies: Honda, Toyota, and most importantly Panasonic, which manufactures loads of batteries for pretty much everything. Imagine an electric version of the Camry/RAV4, or Accord/CRV. All the performance of a Tesla, at an...

Tesla - How shorts got burned good

Ever drive a Tesla? They're pretty bad-ass. Responsive... quick... only 14 moving engine parts. My only gripe is that they don't have an affordable SUV body style.

What defines a "Professional" trader (vs Non-Professional/Amateur)?

Thanks for the response, Robert. So, imagine a person is the [stereo]-typical "day trader." They roll out of bed and go straight to their terminal in their pajamas, trade all day, and make enough profit to maintain their capial and pay their bills.. are they considered a "Professional?" When...

How to get free data for Ninjatrader

Just remember, you get what you pay for--be it a car, pint of beer, a house, or market data. There's a reason why people pay big bucks for MD. Be sure that you're getting data that fits your needs: look for delayed, VWAP, or other nasties.

Best Advice You Could Give A Beginner?

Yeah I hit two buyouts in a row when I first started. I was in on Solar City when Tesla bought them, and in on SGI when HP bought them. I thought, “Easy! Just pick companies that will get bought out, and make tons of profit!” Lol... I was in for a wake-up-call.

Best Advice You Could Give A Beginner?

The number one thing is this: to trade, and trade real money—NOT paper trading. Get in the game. Take your lumps, learn from them. You will lose on some trades... but never lose the lesson. I remember an interview I saw with an Air Force pilot instructor. He said that pilots can fly simulators...
