    I'm getting whipsawed, and I need advice/opinion

Diversify. Have a bunch of these going at once. Yes, out of ten trades, one will go down down down and stay flat, but there will also be one which rockets up and shatters your break-even. Generally, most will break even at some, and you'll come out ahead. Shorts tend to move much faster than...

...then you average again. These are not random moves; they're calculated; for example, here is a "doubling" cost-averaging strat: 1. Entry: 100 shares long @ $10 = $1000 total 2. Price moves against you down to $9. 3. 1st Cost average: - Double. Buy another 100 shares @ $9 = $900 total -...

    I'm getting whipsawed, and I need advice/opinion

I respectfully disagree with this. A good cost-averaging plan allows you to kind of "latch" onto the price as it moves down. It leaves you with a pretty good entry point when the instrument moves for you. If you get out entirely, it can be hard to judge when to get back in.

    Garbage

I thought like this for a long time, and lost a lot of money, until I realized this: --> Said garbage drives people to action, creating price movements--hype matters.

Fed's "Infinite Supply of Money" forces a floor in the markets?

If the Fed now has an "infinite supply of money," this forces a floor in the Dow and S&P? The DJIA shall not fall below 18000, and the S&P shall not fall below 2200. They simply act as the counterparty in all trades at a price level on the buy side. Example: A decision is made that AAPL will...

Anyone want to talk about inflation?

Can we talk about inflation for a minute? If the Fed has the ability to create an "infinite supply of money," is this not devaluing our currency? Is (hyper)inflation a risk here? I don't know how I feel about creating and pouring tens of trillions of dollars into the money supply. Will a pint...

Fed gives wallstreet what it wants again! Keep giving and giving

Is anyone adding up these numbers? How much has the Fed shelled out--in repo and direct purchases--since the start of this crisis?

Loan Application - Why you must trade this market

I did ask for a loan, with a probability of about 0.0000001 that he'd say yes. I also wanted to inquire about starting a hedge fund/LLC, and also ask about the low-interest small business loans (which quite possibly will be forgiven) that T has been talking about.

Loan Application - Why you must trade this market

Yes, I did get whipsawed, I moved everything into ca$h. I reflected on and learned from that experience. Then I talked to the loan officer, realized that benching myself is wrong. I must trade this market. I mention the loan officer because of his comments about how lenders now judge investors...

The S&P 500 cant bottom yet

Here in New Jersey, the pollution has cleared; the air is clean! Never has the air been this crisp in my 30 years here. Wildlife is returning; I saw an eagle yesterday. If this doesn't indicate a massive recessuion then I don't know what does.

Loan Application - Why you must trade this market

This is not a winning attitude; this is fear. Fear and faith have much in common, my friend. Have faith: faith in your trading skills, insight, and your decisions. Did Marty Schwartz think like that? Soros? Buffet? Any champion anywhere?

Loan Application - Why you must trade this market

I made an appointment with my bank loan officer for some working capital. He said that how one traded in the 2008 mortgage crisis is a good indicator of how good one is at managing money. Opinion: Trade this market. Earn your stripes. This is the kind of market where fortunes are made, and you...

Time to stock up on some cheap SPY?

Are you trying to catch a falling knife? You realize that they just shut down New York effing City, along with pretty much every city across the globe. If you're going to buy into this market you'd better damn well have a cost-averaging plan in place.
