Is there anything like a best trading strategy?

That's a bit of a simplified view I had my first years. Even if we leave aside equity long bias, there are actors that are buying and selling for other reasons than to have "highest return" in your selected time frame. You may effectively be providing such actors with a service (being the best...

David Rosenberg attacks Bitcoin then tells people to buy it

That sounds like a fair assessment. Then again, if there is a spectacular blow up down the line the unrelenting skeptic's reputation will be saved, but it might be easier to say "everyone was wrong!" as you lose that 2-3% of portfolio allocated in BTC, while having kept your AUM during the run up.

Why does now USD index(USDollar) not decline because of president-elect Biden's 1.9 trillion ...

Not sure if taking the blue pill would be great for POTUS, consider what happened to Clinton and that was before it existed!

Man started growing mushrooms in his blood after injecting tea made from Magic Mushrooms

lol funniest OT in a while. Killing what you plan to eat before you eat it is a winning strategy. Same should apply for injection.

The shift from Active to Passive Investment - How does it affect market valuations?

Thanks, you're right, that's a better approach for learning something new. I am too keen to assume I know it all.

The shift from Active to Passive Investment - How does it affect market valuations?

Think he's referring to e.g. S&P 500 membership overpricing. It's going to hit passive investors at some point, but until then it seems like a great idea and equally is one of the world's most crowded trades.

How likely is it now that a financial transaction tax will pass?

I will go have a search then. I wouldn't still consider it likely for FTT on the basis that it can put people and businesses into bankruptcy in a very nefarious way.

How likely is it now that a financial transaction tax will pass?

Taxing retroactively is incredibly devilish and not something that would pass. Not sure where that idea comes from. As for putting intraday equity traders out of (future) business, FTT certainly can. Given the unfavorable view of the contribution of traders to society, most politicians on the...

The Russian Energy Giant Mining Bitcoin With Virtually Free Energy

This is really the primary reason I refuse to touch BTC. I was ticked off reading about BTC mining using as much electricity as Ireland a few years back. It's only getting worse. Why not spend 90% of global energy produced mining Bitcoin if the price gets high enough? [Ignoring real limits in...

Brain and Spinal Cord Swelling After COVID Vaccine

Funnily enough, I've become much better at crossing streets since I started trading. :D I used to overthink it.

TRADEKING007yahoo REVIEWS of Signal alerts, teachers, gurus

Thanks. I just scrolled through the front two pages of 1 star reviews, which to me seemed legitimate given that my prior belief is that 99.9% of public trading education has zero value or worse (cause losses). If I saw him inserting 5 star reviews into that I would be very skeptical of those.

Brain and Spinal Cord Swelling After COVID Vaccine

Yep. Millions are getting the vaccines now versus tens of thousands in trials - unusual side effects that were missed in trials (however improbable) start to show up. Luckily we have several to choose from in case one or more of the vaccines are determined to be unsafe. Medical science has...

Anyone use JAVA to develop there automated trading systems?

Definitely agree with everything you said here. Just adding that Visual Assist is what makes coding in C/C++ pleasant, speeds up the programmer 2-3 times. Ironically that's due to providing features that IMO should be in all IDEs: Near instant symbol look up, references look up, text search...

Saw this elsewhere, very cool. We think we know a lot about the Roman era but we just have tiny fragments.

Traders...how did you do in 2020? I crushed it after two blown out accounts!

COVID pwned me (even though my short bias was correct until Fed intervention). Took rest of the year to get back up, stronger.

Anyone use JAVA to develop there automated trading systems?

To a degree it's about language comfortability. I prefer static languages (e.g. C++, Java, C#), but it takes a good IDE to code in them quickly, e.g. Visual Studio w/ Visual Assist. But I can't deny Python can lead to shorter (and hence potentially faster to write) code, however the advantage of...

European mkts dn 3-6% this yr . US up 16%. We both have near 0 rates

Oh really, last I checked many Nordic countries rank among the world's most innovative (I'm a Swede). We do have an issue in creating new large multinational companies, but to me that seems to be rooted in that Swedes happily cash out successful businesses to US investors ASAP. Granted, outside...

Anyone use JAVA to develop there automated trading systems?

Java is fine, if not the world's speediest language to write code in. Understand that your choice is going to matter more in terms of JVM vs others (native binary of C/C++, .NET, interpreter or JITs of Python, etc.) On that point, JVM can absolutely perform this task, it's more of an issue about...
