Would you collaborate with a programmer if it meant sharing your system/research?

It doesn't make sense to you because you're kidding yourself. The moment you enter a formula into Excel or place a task in a scheduler or set the time on the damn VCR you become a programmer. You're just not that good yet, give it some time. You don't have to port your software... keep using...

Would you collaborate with a programmer if it meant sharing your system/research?

I think you're contradicting yourself terribly here and sadly mistaken. If you can't go from the pseudo-code to functioning code with just a little elbow grease... you didn't actually pseudo-code anything to begin with. It sounds to me like your idea is based on a bunch of hunches and whims.

Would you collaborate with a programmer if it meant sharing your system/research?

NO! If you wrote the logic, then you wrote the code... they are identical. What you wrote was a bunch of near gibberish that a "professional" re-interpreted for you into some kind of Frankenprogram. Don't lie to yourself.

A little more creativity and you've just re-invented the Component Object Model. Congrats, it's 1993 again!

    Portfolio Analyst question

Sounds like you should look at the "Performance" widget, select the YTD option and copy/paste from the "Time Period Benchmark Comparison". That said, I'm not crazy about the new changes to Portfolio Analyst... there seem to be some obvious "quirks". Seeing want you want from an actual statement...

Intermarket - Pseudo code to create a strategy on this relationship

Are you afraid your English isn't good enough? Just give it a shot... you might surprise yourself. Here, I'll start you off in a less cynical way... tickers = a list of tickers i got by picking my nose for each ticker combination draw Bollinger bands (whatever those are, tbd) if the bands...

Intermarket - Pseudo code to create a strategy on this relationship

Bruv, contrary to all the AI hype going around these days computers still aren't magical inference engines that can come up with details they aren't given ahead of time. From what you've described so far all we've got is: # buy one # sell the other You can thank me by sending a fat check after...

Pro's and con's of using a wifi connection to trade?

This conversation is reaching absurd levels. If you don't know whether you need a wired connection or not then you don't need one... it's really that simple. If you're an algo trader who has collected reams of data and your algo is based on millisecond differences in latency, well then... there...

Why take-home interview assignments are a waste of time

If this is the situation you find yourself in then you definitely took the wrong job IMHO.

Why take-home interview assignments are a waste of time

Well, if you've decided that participating in the interview process is the best use of your time then approach it any way you see fit. It's been a long time since I was in the job market but when I left I had only one simple rule... interview the hiring organization as thoroughly as possible...

Why take-home interview assignments are a waste of time

Interviews, take-home or otherwise, are only a waste if you have something better to do with your time. It's called opportunity cost.

    Choosing an API

Correct me if I'm wrong though, but it seems you're not a completely impartial party. There's a link to that software in your profile and... it makes me think you've got your salesperson hat on. I don't necessarily see anything wrong with that.... but it should be fully disclosed. Not to...

    Choosing an API

Same as my suggestion here: However, I think this often turns out to be "putting the cart before the horse". It's a good idea for systems programing. But, an application programmer IMHO, should simply choose the best API available and write against it. And, focus on keeping their internal...

    Choosing an API

It was a good looking machine IMHO. But heavy, and used torx screws to get at the innards with those expensive proprietary drive bays (hated that)... pretty sure it was the 286e also. I can't imagine having had enough cash for the 386s. Still think I was pretty lucky though, it had a whole...

    Choosing an API

It was actually the vt220's we had at uni IIRC... not old enough to have used a DECwriter. You're getting really old. Was lucky enough to have one of these (either the 286e or 386s, if only I could remember that far back) in my dorm during the final years, connected via slip to some new fangled...
