Yesterday’s ominous trading on wall street

Yes, there were tremendous moves in commodity stocks and some small caps in the last few weeks that many traders on here seem to be oblivious to. Traders obsessed with shorting US indexes as we move into traditionally strong months are likely missing the boat. When I see commodity prices strong...

    Effect of Elections on Market

Yes, this kind of stat I've been aware of while I see the usual crew on here explaining why we'll crash contrary to most historical precedents.

In bear markets stocks fall to unimaginable levels

In the 2022 "bear market", here are the ytd performances of some of my energy plays. Remember, these firms did even better in 2021. ATH +135%, BTE +94%, CVE +77% ( large cap ), CR +113%

In bear markets stocks fall to unimaginable levels

Cdn energy stocks are volatile enough to have presented several really good trading cycles since March 2020. They have outperformed international energy plays especially the junior and mid caps. We are in another nice trend up the last month or so. Earnings Q3 really, really good for most of...

In bear markets stocks fall to unimaginable levels

A huge portion of markets is already pricing in a Recession. In some cases it's way overdone. I'm looking at some more energy earnings reports tonight the stocks are ridiculously cheap even though they've rebounded fairly well since the summer.

    Markets need to CRASH

We get a lot of these stupid threads these days and people just seem to think markets crash because well they saw a chart of another crash under entirely different conditions. Versus actually looking at what companies are worth. The earnings reports in many non-IT companies are very, very...

In bear markets stocks fall to unimaginable levels

These threads are usually pretty popular at market bottoms. At the very least many of you suffer from tunnel vision that prevents you from trading a divergent market well. Energy is a generational LONG trade and you guys are still arguing how far QQQ will fall. Banks and some industrial stocks...

    Bottom fishing...Amazon

Over $10K on my trading accounts; one of my stronger days. Main day trade I made was I bought 6000 shares CS at $3.30 ( 9:31.57 ) and sold at $3.49 ( 9:51.29 ). Day trading is not my main focus but I'll take the money if it's a clean looking trade and literally everything I trade was a clear...

Biden to Float Windfall Tax on Energy Producers

It's not because of OPEC. Many OPEC countries literally can't even keep up with mandated production increases. There is only 2 or 3 countries that can turn on the taps and increase production and why should they make their main business a losing one ? If prices are too high then some marginal...

Biden to Float Windfall Tax on Energy Producers

Because Oil is a free market and a small OPEC prodn drop ( after many increases ) is not the reason for higher prices. In fact, the most manipulative aspect in Oil markets right now is Biden draining US emergency reserves. There is a cost to drilling and building new supply and the economic case...

Pelosi attacker fits the profile of most ET conservatives

Certainly there are people on here that fit this profile very well. The thing is, many of these people don't know they are irrational. No amount of conversation will persuade them and social media and certain parts of the Republican party reinforce their narratives. Years ago, I asked is the P&R...

Who to listen to at ET?

If you are being serious, I have to question your ability to recognize quality advice on here based on your posts. One of the reasons I often don't post trading ideas on here is this place often dissolves into a swamp of overly bearish crash talk and conspiracy crap. That current is so strong...

    Charts that Matter

What "bulls" are overly optimistic ? Who are these mystery people and quote them ( no, not the eternally optimistic types like that Lee guy ) ? I started muting the Bloomberg morning gang lately they were so overly negative about markets in October. I'm seeing the odd guest and comment now at...

    Charts that Matter

Sentiment has been overly negative for months. So there is no point in talking about people being "overly bullish" that's something you dreamed up. 2+ weeks ago we had JPM going under $102, "experts" saying the US banks would suffer, and Calhoun saying UVXY was going from $13 to $20. JPM reports...

Strong up-tick close on the ETH, on a Friday...

I've tried most types of investing/trading except futures and by far the best risk/reward for me has been swing trading based on fundamentals and long term technicals. I added a layer of shorter term trading since fall 2020 which can be holds from less then an hour to a few days. Depends on my...

Attention: Ken - you fading this rally too?

We all know Ken's going to claim all sort of glorious trading victories even if he's losing money all month. While only Ken knows his results there is no doubt his posted trade ideas were really bad in October. As long as his clients buy into the "Covid lows are coming" thesis he'll maintain...

    Strong support? Major bottom?

Technically, the SPX put in what is likely a double bottom a few weeks ago and the energy sector is likely still in a multi-year cyclical bull. The best trades have been recognizing the overall range on the year because once you strip out QQQ it's not nearly the bear market some think it is.
