    Index futures automation

This is more or less how I traded. Using fixed targets, and trying to get consistency at the expense of taking large losses here and there. Even if you try to manage your losses, it just doesn't work trading this way. You just fall into the delusion of consistency and failing to see the overall...

b/e + scalein is a good combo. But you have to limit the scale in cause when it runs against you, you're just adding to losers.

Of course testing not complete until you add fixed martingale cycle to the mix

So what is the conclusion to getting a decent strategy? Need to let the fat tail profit trades to occur b/e minimizes downward swings Need to remove outlier losing days by setting max loss. I still think random entry is as good as any other entry though The other conclusion is, you can make...

I'm going into a backtest rabbit hole lol Same test but setting max loss PF improved. Same high % wins, but of course you sacrifice your R:R. But still +EV

Same test but with b/e stop added in. 90% win rate, but because no stop, big losses overcome the many mini +1s Those large impulses are basically trend days. You could get frequent wins and get screwed on those days...or you try to capture the big days and try to minimze the many small losses.

same test but on the MNQ 50% win rate like MES, but still has +EV... Next tests to do what happens when you scale in

Random entry just basically using a breakout (whichever side is hit first), then leaving the trade open until close.

    Flip of a coin..but

Interesting backtest that price is nearly random. There is some unique behavior that es/mes exhibits https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/index-futures-automation.368144/page-18#post-5748094

This is the same test: except the exits are all end of day. Basically a "no stop", "no target" intraday So in a true 50/50 price movement, I should theoretically would be b/e since there would be equal distribution of wins and losses even on a time based exit. But it's the way I enter that...

    Index futures automation

Same test but adding scaling into position entry - random 5 positions scale in max stop -$300 exit- time based end of day Doubled the win rate to about 40%

    Index futures automation

Backtest MES from 3/14/22-11/4/22 (spring DST) entry - random single position stop -$50 exit- time based end of day This is to simulate "trend trading". The truest adherence to cutting your losses short and let your winners run (in context of daytrading). Has +EV, but having to endure weeks or...

    MQL5 market?

Yes. I use their freelance service. Be warned, these are mostly forex devs, so you have to very detailed as to what you want and understand how MT5 operate.

    Flip of a coin..but

I'm running an algo based on the premise that short term prices are random. And I'm putting the algo up in a trading competition for 2023 https://financial-competitions.com/ I think 1 year sample size is significant enough no? for scalping at least
