Beyond Ninjatrader Brokerage - is IB the only broker offering Ninja? Any other options with Ninja?

Hi all, I'm just learning that the brokers offering (or being allowed to offer) Ninjatrader is dramatically reduced since the last time I was trading live. For futures trading, it seems like the only options currently are Interactive Brokers or Ninjatrader Brokerage. Any experience with the...

IB overnight initial for 1 YM contract $9153.54

I understand. I wasn't aware their DT margins were as low as $3500. I could easily deal with that. Maybe I was too hasty when I last checked their margins (end of 2017), but I seemed to recall it was closer to $5000 then... Unless you're dependent on some type of software (like I am with...

IB overnight initial for 1 YM contract $9153.54

I think it's too much for most people. Prior to the recent events, I think their day trading margins was already around $6000 or so? I certainly don't want or need $500 margins, but IB's margins are way too high for me. However, in the end, it's IB's choice and I respect that. It's just a...

IB overnight initial for 1 YM contract $9153.54

I would love to use Interactive Brokers since they're pretty much the only broker who supports Ninjatrader. Sadly, their day trading margins are a tad too high for me. When the ES was a few thousand points lower, I think their day trading margins were around $3-3500 which were fine with me.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Not crazy, but why exactly 45%? The last two major declines were -57,69% (909,30 points during the financial crisis) and -50,50% (784,24 points) when the dot com bubble burst. Considering that we're up 330,85% (2206,08 points) bottom to top from 2009 I don't think a correction of some size is...

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

Yes, I noticed that on volume. To be honest, I wasn't aware volume was available for the actual index. I'm only interested in the actual price anyway. Any idea if that's rubbish also? This is free data from Yahoo and not paid for, so no refund. I have a live feed through IQ Feed which I also...

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

Well, you're right in that regard, of course. :) I had a friend help me create a VBA script that does this for me now. So, problem solved, I guess. Thanks for all help.

Is it too late to become a daytrader at 30?

Did you not say this? Were you referring to someone else? I think your quote is applicable to most things in life, but trading might very well be the exception here. Frugal living in a 3rd world country is another debate. In any case, the OP is much more likely to achieve this through buy...

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

In settings? I just converted the data right now and it's fine, but it's a cumbersome process involving several steps that I'd like to avoid when updating this on a daily basis. Unless I don't get what you're saying and there's a simpler solution where everything is done in the "text to...

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

Hi, Thanks! This is what I've done in the past. Then I finalize the operation using "Seek and replace" with "." to ",". Is this step also done in the "text to column" function...? I wasn't able to complete this step. Mind you, I need to get rid of all "." in my data. For the close...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

You know that, don't you? It's true that an up gap is more likely in recent past, but not by a wide margin. For the last 5 years or so, it's roughly 55% chance it's an up gap on any given day.

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

Thanks. I will take a look just now. Is that through Kinetick? I have done this earlier with futures data, but that's in *.txt format, so I would probably once again have to convert that data in Excel. Seems to be a popular choice and I did try it prior to this thread, but I'm only able to...

You might not have misread as the title was corrected after I posted it. :) I already have futures data. Would like to follow the index also. Thanks anyway.

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

No. Any further advice? I could add that I already pay for historical and live futures data. It's simply the index data I'm now interested in adding as well and I would prefer not to pay for that one.

Free EOD S&P 500 index data for export to excel - Where?

Hi all, I'm interested in obtaining EOD closing prices for daily data on the S&P 500 index. Living in Europe, I have a different setup than in the US, such that any downloads from a US site seems to put all the data in one column. I can fix this in Excel by converting the data and changing...

Is it too late to become a daytrader at 30?

It has everything to do with it. You say it's highly likely that the OP will succeed as long as he's persistent. Certainly true in many fields and you certainly need persistence in trading also, but persistence alone? Nah... So, you have 11+ years in trading and you're still not rich, yet...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Thanks, but I'd like spreadsheet data of S&P 500. I tried downloading some from Yahoo and others, but due to a different separator, I got all the data in one column. Alternatively, I'd have to switch up my settings in Excel, but that's quite cumbersome since it renders all my other sheet...

Is it too late to become a daytrader at 30?

It's tough enough to excel in professions where the path is laid out clear ahead of you, but in trading there is no such thing and you're not likely to find a mentor. In practice, this means that you may very well end up spending a huge amount of time pursuing an approach or methodology that...
