Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

The average open price is + 0,50. The ratio is 56 % positive/44 % negative. So, pretty close to 50 %. Now, we all know this is a great bull market, so obviously BTFD have worked for quite a while during extended periods of time. But my data suggests that simply buying the cash close and...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

For all days or every weekday? I can run the data after the close later tonight. I'm only looking at the difference between the cash close (16:00 EST) and cash open (09:30 EST) and not actual overnight data. If you're saying that stock indices simply rise overnight 'most of the time' and is...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Actually, last Thursday had a positive Open, but prior to that we had 14 consecutive negative Opens on Thursday. Some of them even have had some size. Meaning that if we followed your advice here by buying the cash close on Wednesday and selling the Open on Thursday would have yielded quite a...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Probably not today? I can actually see us having put in a bottom here, but the gap below is an attractor, so if I were to guess, I'd say there's a good chance we have another push down to 71,50 or so. Then again, this is a bull market, you know. And we've had plenty of gaps not filling lately...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

I wish you were wrong, but for the last 5 years (and I would expect this to be true for a longer period as well) May, June and July have been slower compared to the rest of the year. Will probably see the same seasonality in play this year unless something particular should happen.

Scratch that for now. The relevant pattern for that is no longer in play.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

You misread. What I said is that today (Tuesday) is a more common day for ES historically than what we've seen recently. The volatility that picked up in the late part of 2018 and continued for a while into 2019 is not normal. If you want a consistently volatile market, you might want to look...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

I understood you perfectly and have quoted similar figures in the past. I only checked the Monday Open at 09:30 compared to the close at Friday 16:00 and while there is a skew towards a positive Open, it's safe to say it's roughly a 50/50 proposition or 60/40 at best.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Overtrading, IMO. You see. That's the thing. If you want success in day trading, you need consistency. This means your system needs to adapt. Today is a pretty common day for the ES so if your system doesn't work well on such days, you have a job to do. In fact, the recent volatility is not...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Conflicting signals today, but I am once again anticapting new highs in the last hour of the day as my main scenario. 75 looks about right. The alternative scenario says we'll trade the rest of the session in a tight range at 71-66. Would be surprised to see new lows today.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Voila. Without revealing any secrets - these type of days very rarely reverse and make new lows/gap fills.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I think the upside is limited from here, but anticipate that we trade slightly higher by the close and that we see the HOD inside the last hour. Could see a little slide from the top, but should close above 60 today. IMO. :)

Have fun, but don't expect a gap fill today. Later this week is more likely. :)

A gap fill below today is very unlikely.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Feel free to 'totally disagree with this', but you're the one currently losing money and starting a thread to ask advice. Diversification is fine if it adds to your bottom line, but both ES and NQ separately offer more than enough opportunity on any given day. If you're not profitable day...

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Feel free to disagree. I don't think it makes sense for someone inexperienced trying to juggle day trading two markets at once. If higher volatility is desired, then simply choose NQ.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Since you've been here so long I thought you had more experience than this. No offense, but this sounds like gambling to me. In my opinion, you should stop trading completely and focus on learning your chosen market better. Choose either NQ or ES. Don't do both at the same time. ES retraces a...

    I'm out

Yes. But, refusing to quit if you're consistently losing and not making any real progress ain't very smart either. Most people won't succeed with this. Persistence is necessary, but persistence without smarts and a fair bit of luck won't get you there. IMO at least.

    I'm out

Everyone on this journey have had their fair share of self-pity and dark thoughts. Some of us have given up more than once. I can't think of any harder endeavour than this since you're basically ALONE and have to wade through a jungle without any help from anyone. In fact, you're more likely to...
