    The S&P 500 topped at 3017.8

Another one...? :) What's the rationale? There's potential of a double top in play, but I'm not convinced. If I were entering a swing short, I'd wait for confirmation at the highs before initiating a position. As of now, I would not be surprised if we print 3022 + before the close today (24th...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Interesting. Is this one available to the public? The FED meeting is early next week, I believe. Why not further selling this week into the FED meeting and a rally (assuming that happens which it probably will on a rate cut) starting Monday next week or into the close this Friday?

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Good evening, traders! Last week opened gap up at all time highs, but sold off for most of the week with volatility increasing daily and peaking on Friday with a close at the day/week lows and selling off further in ETH. Any expectations for the coming week? I'm eyeing the 2940-43 as a...

What is the maximum percentage that Emini SP contract has moved in a wek?

The largest percentage move since 2005 happened on the 13th of October 2008. 11,88 % up intraday with a close at + 11,63 %. In one single day. I don't keep track of ES data prior to that. However, the largest moves in absolute values happened last year. Due to the ES being 2,5 the nominal...

What is the maximum percentage that Emini SP contract has moved in a wek?

The question was about the largest percentage move in a week. Not intraday or ETH. ;) Just did a quick check on my charts and it seems like the overnight range was approximately 88 points on that night. I'm sure that can't be the largest ETH move in recent times...? But certainly a nice move...

What is the maximum percentage that Emini SP contract has moved in a wek?

And what do you remember from 1987? :) I believe the biggest daily change on S&P happened Monday the 19th of October 1987. The market closed at its low down 20,47 %. However, the market recovered with two strong up days in a row (+ 5,33 %, + 9,10 %) and on the week S&P were 'only' down 12,20 %...

What is the maximum percentage that Emini SP contract has moved in a wek?

S&P 500 was down 18,20 % Friday the 8th of October in 2008. This is using closing prices. During this week, the S&P were down at most 23,60 %. I don't have access to ES data right now, but I imagine the figures should be approximately similar. Can check later.

Which one was that? Here on ET? I believe he's had at least 10 + aliases. I'm not offended by the guy at all. I just find him pretty funny even when he's trying to insult me. :) Generally not a big fan of the ignore function, but there was a guy I had to block in the past because he was...

    The market can stay...

That's certainly true if you're a short term trader without deep pockets. Your opinion of market value/movement is irrelevant as long as the market is doing the exact opposite and continues doing so. On the other hand - there are investors/speculants who actually was right when the market was...

The Stock Market Works by Day, but It Loves the Night

From 2005 until today (12th of July 2019) it looks like this (3453 full trading sessions): The Open is simply the difference between the cash close at 16:00 and the open the next day at 09:30. ES futures. So, yes, unsurprisingly there is a skew towards a positive open price, but less than...

Comments/questions from financially illiterate people looking at your charts for the first time.

Hi all, I have my sister visiting me over the weekend. She's curious about what I'm doing, so I told her I could show her my workspace and what it looks like. Her first comment after seeing yesterday's 1 minute ES chart: "It looks very wobbly and wavey." Well observed, IMO. Next, a...

    crude oil chart hours

It's a good question really. If no experts on crude oil chimes in - try backtesting it and see if you find any significance with regards to particular times during the day? Index futures are also 24 hour markets these days, but since they are a derivative of the stock market I find that OHLC...

I'm no expert on bear markets, but it seems odd with a bear market which keeps making all time highs as well. But what do I know.
