Elizabeth Warren proposes a bill banning politicians from owning stock

Transparency would be great as well. Both together can eliminate a lot of potential corruption. Btw - how do you feel that trump refused to release his taxes? How did your feel that Deutsche Bank got a light sentence for their mortgage abuses because they lent hundreds of millions to the...

Elizabeth Warren proposes a bill banning politicians from owning stock

A capitalist or a socialist may have different opinions on what is right for the country. But it’s pretty obvious neither are equivalent to a person passing tax subsidies for an industry where he will earn millions. Or someone passing a regulation to make his future employer (in the private...

Elizabeth Warren proposes a bill banning politicians from owning stock

The private sector isn’t nasty. It’s about removing as much self interest as possible. This is a common practice in private industry by the way. If you work at a hedge fund, law firm, or consulting firm your personal investments are severely restricted. They don’t want you doing things that...

Totally. But there are some very obvious scenarios. Wilbur Ross determining the tariffs on auto parts while owning an auto part company that he didn’t divest when he took a seat in trumps administration.

You don’t pay capital gains if you sell to serve your country. That’s one reason Paulson took the job as secy if treasury. 700mm of Goldman stock tax free. Secondly there are many jobs where you can’t own individual stocks. Law firms, investment firms, regulatory bodies often don’t let you hold...

Another sign of hard times for teachers? They make up nearly 10 percent of Airbnb hosts.

I went to high school in NJ: one of the best school districts in the state. Experienced Teachers were paid about 50k/year. It was comparable to an entry level engineer and there were many teachers over the age of 50. They must have pissed all their salaries on lotto tickets or something.

LOL - "Show me the victims of insider trading."

Totally. If the markets are perceived as being rigged, you will see wider spreads, less liquidity, and higher risk premia (lower prices). It's a form of inefficiency that will affect the real economy.

JP Morgan to offer free trading

They will internalize the flow. They will create a path to sell more Chase services to those customers (who will be millenials who are just starting to build their wealth).

    Post your vol-trade here

I copied your idea but I did the Aug24 78.5 79 strangle. Sold at 6.1 It's now marked about 3.5 vs 76.55 (45 vol). I think it benefited you have downside strikes that you could slide into. I also sold the 72.5 85 strangle and that is looking better ($1.95 and it's marked at 43 cents). Good find.

Another sign of hard times for teachers? They make up nearly 10 percent of Airbnb hosts.

Teachers are paid what the market will bear. Many women want to be teachers and so there is an oversupply of teachers. Administrators on the other hand are comparatively overpaid but not when you consider their private sector equivalents. That being said, it would behoove America to...

    Buyback Derangement Syndrome

It is if the price of stock is low enough. Though most companies buy back stock when the stock price is high which I think is value destructive.

Trump calls for biannual earnings reporting

Of course Trump wants this. It's good for corporate bigwigs who are held accountable less frequently and screws the individual investor whose only real source of information are quarterly calls. Institutional investors would still get the blue horseshoe call.

    TSLA what a joke

“Secured funding” has a meaning. He said it publicly. He doesn’t have secured funding. He claimed that he would burn the shorts. He lied to burn the shorts. Everyone will have a field day except the lawyer defending him.
