    Tradestation: zero commission

I have just been in contact with Tradestation. I was told that commission-free trading at Tradestation also applies to EU residents. That is great news since commission-free trading at Interactive Brokers, Schwab, Ameritrade and E-Trade only applies to US residents.

It is going to be interesting to see which strategy Tradestation pursues. Hopefully they will include non-US clients.

IBUK / beneficiaries, transfer on death

You can specify a trusted person as an entry in the client portal. I assume that will make it easier in case you die.

Of course you cannot infer anything from sending two orders. By "easy" I did not mean sending one order from each account. Same order size. Same order type. Same limit. Always the same relative to NBBO. Repeat for 1.000 orders. Average price. Average commission. Is there a difference? Is is...

I guess we just have to hope that when IB claim price improvement of 0.0043 per share, that is indeed what we would have lost using payment-for-order-flow zero commission brokers. However, I am not sure that is the case. I would have loved to test it, because it would have been easy to test.

Maybe Lightspeed would offer zero commission direct-access trading for US and non-US clients and we would all choose Lightspeed. Pretty please.

Ok, thanks. I have just been in contact with Schwab. Unfortunately, the zero commission does not apply to clients outside the US. Rather frustrating if the end result is an uneven playing field between US and non-US traders. But of course this is entirely up to the brokers to decide.

Yes, this is critical. I wish we knew exactly how they calculate this figure, which is now 0.0043 (also in your link). Ameritrade claim: "Net improvement per order: Net price improvement per share ($0.0174) in the order size range comprising the vast majority of our clients’ market orders...

    No Commission Trading

Schwab receives USD 0.0030 per share when selling limit orders to Citadel. https://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/nn/legal_compliance/important_notices/material_aspects.html Citadel makes a profit on top of that. Otherwise they would not buy the order. Consequently, it is tempting to conclude...

I am starting to think this is a net positive for retail traders. DMA does not mean we are not getting fucked by Citadel, Two Sigma and Virtu. When Citadel pays Schwab $0.0030 per share for limit orders, they pay for the right to be the one to fuck that particular order. If that limit order is...

Schwab cuts commissions to zero on US stocks, options and ETFs

Who are you talking to? When have I called myself an expert? Are you paranoid? If you place a limit order to buy at the offer, you will get the offer (assuming your order is small enough not to be exposed to the "front-running" described in Flash Boys). You may even get an insignificant price...

I assume by "they" you mean market makers. They sub-penny the limit orders until the market moves against you (which they are the first to see), then they take your limit order.
