Why so much weight in after hour and pre market trading?

Why so much weight in after hour and pre-market trading? Volume is low but it can dominate the trend for the regular market. Example: GOOGL up 4.30% during after-hour and pre-market trading. Pre-market volume 167,000. Average daily volume 1,861,612.

McDonald's - as in MCD? They are 125 billion market cap. AMZN up 14% after earnings is possible - unlikely - but possible. Buying OTM July27 calls would be the way to trade AMZN earnings.

    Market-on-Close (MOC) for Options

The bid/ask definitely widens as the market closes. Market orders most likely will be filled at the bid/ask. I assume at 4:00pm - even for the options that trade to 4:15pm such as SPY and QQQ.
