    Put hedging stock on margin

Yes and no. Yes, before you get a PM regulatory call (they are only at end of day), you can reduce risk by hedging. However, most clearing brokers require that if you get a PM call from trading, that you meet that call with cash. If you get the PM call from an adverse move in the stock, but not...

    Put hedging stock on margin

Regulatory calls from trading typically have to be met with cash. You should ask your broker. If you lose money, does it matter if it from the stock or the hedge? You still need a minimum amount of capital to protect against losses from the entire position.

Should I consider a prop firm? Or just trade my own funds? ($2 mil)

IMO, placing more than $50k in a commingled prop firm "concerns" me. I joined one in 2010 with $150k and left after the mandatory 12 months and just missed the firm having financial problems. They closed down shortly after. No one had their cash taken, but some traders we made to liquidate...

Should I consider a prop firm? Or just trade my own funds? ($2 mil)

In general, there are two types of hedge funds, from a funding level. Those that require you to be QEP and those that don't. The ones that do, typically ask for $500k or more and the ones that don't have minimums of as low as $100k. We follow a number of hedge funds, fund of funds, RIAs and CTAs.

Help Need Calculating Expectancy and R:R

I would not use that process. I would keep track of daily and monthly returns (Profit or loss)/capital. Also keep track of winning vs losing days and months. Then you can simply calculate different metrics like average monthly returns, STD of those returns, Sharpe, Sortino, Correlation to the...

    Scalper looking for new broker

If you are asking me, I would only do that to share technology, not to save on rates. I don't like commingling my capital. But, if they can offer me software I can get on my own, that might tempt me.

What approach should one take when starting day trading?

I have a futures account at Wedbush with a master/sub structure which I have allocated toward 4 CTAs that each trade in their own sub account. I see all trades the next day from post trade allocation, not live. The ES day-trader has a notional $100k allocation has trades between 1 and 5 ES...
