it's admirable that your open about it and as you have already seen everyone is a winner after the fact. on chop days like this i rely on the $TICK of the NYSE Index on trend days it' useless.

i haven't sold options since the 90's but you could purchase t-bills and get the interest while using the t-bills as collateral - i was also able to use the collected premium to trade as margin. the only way you could withdraw was to liquidate the trades first. mostly i was always just selling...

when you sell options the premium is to be put in your account right then, some people try and use the extra money in their account to over trade and blow up. others ignore the money and wait to actually earn it by waiting for it to expire worthless.

that's why you sell them first and then buy them to close. opposite of what the public does.

when you need money - it's very hard to make money the only way i think full time would be safe is when your trading is so good that there would be no question to go full time. if you have doubts then that's an anchor around your neck.
