    Can't sell my options

A registered option market maker must post two sided markets in the options he/she is assigned but they don't have to be tight. I was allowed to be 5 points wide and only 10 up.

How Do Professional Traders Define Profitablity

If you are an investor, this is a great metric. If you are an active trader, you have to wonder if you can't beat the S & P performance, why not just buy the SPY? I think where an active trader shines is in down and sideways markets.

What is the point of doing a Calendar Spread?

I find time spreads very directional. You can create your spread and be long/short and have some degree of vega risk, which is the point. However, if the underlying moves far away or toward the strikes, it will often determine if you make or lose money, unless it precedes an event where the vols...

    Let's talk routing...

I want to make it clear that I have not been a professional trader for over 6 years. My current trading is very small and I don't care about the fee. It is not material at my volume and I'm not scaping. For most of my customers, I can offer them both a SMART route and DMA, and they can manage...

    Let's talk routing...

Concern with maker/taker fees is very reasonable, but for certain traders/portfolio managers, trying to save 30 mil vs getting 20 mils is not constructive if they don't get their size and the stock moves.

Best Exchange/ route for taking liquidity in NYSE

On Lightspeed Trader, we have some routes that go to equity market makers that have no ECN fee, but they are not for everyone. We can't put certain types of traders on it that they consider toxic order flow.

Maxloss in calculation vs TOS not the same

At expiration, If the stock is 30 @ expiration, the 30 strike incurs a loss of $408 but you make $40 on the 26 strike. Looks like a loss of $368 if they are the same expiration date not including fees. Maybe they are looking at today vs expiration.

If both options expire in the money

IMO, in general, that is backward thinking. There is no best spread that you can use all the time to make money with risk/reward included. IMO, you need to examine market conditions, have an expectation of what will or won't happen, then examine market expectations by looking at option prices...

If both options expire in the money

You will have no position after expiration if you get assigned on both? What was the reason to sell the guts vs the 45 puts and 55 calls? The OTM options are more liquid with tighter markets and provide less risk from corporate actions.

Insufficient margin to exercise ITM options - what happens?

Margin gets released overnight after expiration. If expiration is Friday, you will see your new requirement Monday morning. If expiration is Wednesday, you will see it thursday morning. Is this a Reg-t or PM account? The reality is that they can't man their margin department to interact with...
