I forgot I bought a long SPY call option a day or so ago, anyway its profitable now after this rally.

Up for the day. 4 trades all long, 1 loser. CL bitch slapped me by not respecting support, while ES did respect support and made me money.

    interactive-brokers real-time liquidation madness

I believe this is why Buffet uses European style options so that extreme market moves will not affect his position.

    CL Redux

On a trade the following things can happen: 1) You enter trade, trade goes down and hits your stop. 2) You enter trade, trade goes in your direction, but before hitting target reverses back. a) You take some profit. b) You get out at BE c) You leave stop alone and...

    CL Redux

Hi NoEmotions, I almost never move my stop up to BE. Instead sometimes I will take just .10 instead of letting the trade play out. My thought especially on CL, is you have to let the trade have room to run. Also, I sometimes base my stop on the chart, and base my targets on the chart...

    CL Redux

Order was filled in ES, took only .25 heat and got out at a profit and only missed .25 profit. I am up for the day now that I am positive on all accounts. Good trading all. I guess I could have also rode the market down before riding it back up, but I am not at that level of skill yet.

    CL Redux

Down around $ 30 total for day on all accounts. Main issue was an emotional response to making a good trade on ES only to realize that I did it on sim, so just decided to go long market real money. This was a revenge trade, I don't think I even looked for signals. Got stopped out including...

    Option question.

Thanks. My thought would be say close to expiration assuming the stock price is above the DEC call, to close both positions. If expiration comes and stock is below DEC call price, the thought would be then to write an out of the money Jan call.

'I Have A Dream'- to all futures traders

I don't see the point. If you go long even with size and a bad report comes out, you still going to lose on your trade. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/23/business/global/23socgen.html

    Option question.

My understanding is if I bought a stock say 100 shares of JPM and sold a DEC covered call, for IB I would not have to anything if the stock goes above the call price since the stock would be called away. However, lets instead say I bought an in the money Jan JPM call and sold an out of the...

Ok. I sold the DEC $ 43 out of the JPM call just now. Now if I am called out in DEC, I will make at least $ 300 per contract if not more since the Jan call should still have time value. I also sold my AUD currency long, I did not do it futures this time since I would have needed a stop and...

However, lets assume the market is up today, the put you sold would be profitable and the put you bought would be negative. In theory if the market stayed the same or went higher before expiration, you would in fact make money if you hold till expiration. For my JPM call, I am looking for a...

I will sometimes sell a naked put or a vertical put spread on a stock I would not mind owning at a lower price. I did this with SVNT. I don't like to do this with an index since I only use technical analysis and price action to try to determine price movements for the next 10 - 30 min...

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

From the article, it looks like JPM is going to move its traders to probably trade client money rather than its own money, while Goldman is in fact getting rid of its traders. Either way, it stated it may take forever, and this trade is more based on dividend increase article coming out in...

I previously bought a SPY NOV call near the lows of the day yesterday. Today I sold it at for a $ 5 loss plus $ 2 loss in commission. I then bought a JPM JAN in the money $ 35 call. I think the time decay is hurting me on the NOV call, and I decided on the JPM in the money call since I...

    CL Redux

CL just did what its famous for, I was not in the trade, but it broke recent support, shot down, and then came all the way back up. All stops below recent support were probably broken. My long trade probably broke some shorts stop by .1, before going down which is also funny. Any shorts on...

    CL Redux

I went long CL, and it made it to around .14 - .15 but not to my target. It then went back down and I was negative .5 - .6. So I changed my target to get around .10. ES was going up, I tried to also go long ES, but did not get in quick enough and did not want to chase. CL hit my target, I...

    CL Redux

Looking at my trade, I missed getting in near the low, but we did break to a HH previously. My indicator still suggested we were in an uptrend. I took a scalp long, and it worked out, but now looking at the chart, I should have held it for a little more profit.
